I have lived in Michigan all of my life and became very interested in the weather after the 1953 Flint tornado. This was one of the few EF5 tornadoes in our state's history (since records have been kept). Although we are not strangers to severe storms in Michigan, EF5 tornadoes are very rare. I live in an area where we rarely get a good thunderstorm, in fact, we haven't had one all summer. When I lived down by Detroit, they were frequent during the spring and summer months. I love experiencing the four seasons here in Michigan and I wouldn't live anywhere else.
Rain Expected . . . . .

Rain Expected . . . . .

Our morning has been cloudy, and rain is expected for this afternoon.  We did receive a little overnight, but now it is dry and windy.  One of the YouTube weather forecasters said that my area could get tornado weather late Friday.  That’s still a few days away and we’ll see how that works out. Our 12:45 PM temperature is 60°F (16°C), the humidity is 52%, and winds are from the SW at 7-17 mph.  Skies are cloudy and the dew…

Sunny And Warmer . . .

Sunny And Warmer . . .

Today will be much improved from the last two, with plenty of sun and warmer temps.  Winds will still be a bit brisk, but with the warmer temperatures, it won’t feel as cold.  There is no  rain in the forecast until late tomorrow.  The lawn was mowed Saturday, so we’re ready for more rain. Our 11:15 AM temperature is 55°F, the humidity is 47%, and skies are clear.  Winds are from the SW at 3-7 mph, and the pressure is…

Looks Like Spring . . . . . .

Our Saturday was mostly cloudy and cold.  Strong winds made it even feel colder.  Today will still be windy but temps will rise higher, so should be more pleasant.  There is no rain in the forecast until Tuesday, and temperatures will be on the rise all week. Our 10:15 AM temperature is 44°F, the humidity is 53%, and skies are partly cloudy.  Winds are from the west at 5-13 mph.  The pressure is 30.11 in and steady, and the dew…

Cold And Mostly Cloudy . . . .

Cold And Mostly Cloudy . . . .

Yesterday turned out quite nice although much too windy.  At least there was plenty of sun but temps didn’t feel nearly as warm as they were.  Highs made it to the mid 50s but the wind chill was in the 40s.  Today is cold, and although we have seen a few peeks at the sun, it remains mostly overcast. Our 3:15 PM temperature is 47°F, the humidity is 46%, and winds are from the west at 4-14 mph.  The pressure…

Sun After The Rain . . . . .

Sun After The Rain . . . . .

After overnight showers, and a cloudy morning, we now have clear skies with a bit of wind.  I think it’s going to be a nice day.  Unfortunately, temperatures will remain n the 50s, and with the wind, it will feel cooler.  But we can’t complain for mid April. Our 12:45 PM temperature is 51°F (11°C), the humidity is 52%, and winds are from the west at 7-16 mph.  The pressure is 30.03 in (1016.9 mb) and steady.  The dew point…

Cooler And Cloudy . . . . .

Cooler And Cloudy . . . . .

Today is back to more normal weather for mid April.  Although we love the unseasonable warm temps, we always know that we can’t expect them to last, and it always brings the possibility of severe weather.  We were under a severe thunderstorm watch for most of our Wednesday afternoon, and we did have a good amount of rain, thunder and lightning, but nothing that I would call severe.  Lansing was under a tornado warning briefly but I haven’t heard of…

Possible Stormy Afternoon . . . .

Possible Stormy Afternoon . . . .

We began the day with sun and clear skies.  Now our sky is overcast and rain cells are appearing on radar.  We did get a little rain overnight, but much more is expected later today.  Severe storms are even a possibility.  Iowa was hit quite hard yesterday, and that same system will be over us today. Our 11:30 AM temperature is 65°F, the humidity is 80%, and winds are from the SSE at 4-11 mph.  The pressure is 29.75 in…

Fire Danger, Possible Severe Weather . . . . .

Fire Danger, Possible Severe Weather . . . . .

The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a Red Flag Warning until 8 PM.  It seems to me that we’ve had enough rain lately to avoid fire danger, but the dew points have been very low, and it has been quite windy.  The area expected to have severe weather over the next few days, does include us although the threat is quite low at this time.  Regardless, we should be award of weather conditions today. Our 12:15 PM temperature…

Another Sunny Day . . . .

Another Sunny Day . . . .

Today will be another winner in terms of the weather.  It won’t be as warm as yesterday, but comfortable none the less.  The national forecast map is showing many parts of the country to be affected once again by severe weather, but it should be quite tranquil for us.  Yesterday saw temperatures near the record high for that date, but didn’t quite make it.  Temps won’t be that warm again for awhile. Our 10:45 AM temperature is 58°F (14°C), the…

A Beautiful Sunday . . . .

A Beautiful Sunday . . . .

Today is really nice with very warm temps and light winds.  We also have nearly clear skies with a few clouds passing by.  Can’t do much better for mid April.  We don’t even have any rain in our forecast until Tuesday night, so that will give me a chance to get some of my screens on the windows.  we can see much more green on trees and bushes. Our 3:30 PM temperature is 76°F,  the humidity is 38%, and winds…
