Excessive Heat, Thunderstorms On Tap For Our Holiday Weekend – Mid Michigan
NOAA has issued a special weather statement that we may expect heavy thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. There were a few in the state yesterday but we received one heavy shower early in the afternoon. It dropped 0.37″, just enough to get everything wet. It didn’t do anything to dampen our Holiday cookout. It was very hot yesterday and the dew point and humidity were very high all day making it uncomfortable to be outdoors even for a few minutes. We did manage a camp fire last night and the air was more comfortable by then. We heard and saw fireworks all evening long. One neighbor was shooting them off for about 4 hours. He must have spent a bundle on them.
Our 1:15 PM temperature is 92°F (33°C), the humidity is 61%, and the dew point is 71°F (22°C). The pressure is 29.98 in (1015.2 mb) and rising. Winds are from the SW at 8 mph. Yesterday’s high was 86°F (30°C) and the overnight low was 71°F (22°C). The UV index is very high at 9. Average temps for this date are 82°F / 59°F. Sunrise was at 6:03 AM and sunset was at 9:18 PM.
