Below Average Temps Continue . . . .

Below Average Temps Continue . . . .

We continue to be unseasonably cold with highs only in the teens.  Our snow cover remains at around 6 inches and no thaw is expected until this weekend.  Skies are cloudy and we could see a few snow flurries this afternoon.  At least we had a snowless day yesterday with quite a bit of sun.  That’s always good for the spirits. Our 3:30 PM temperature is 19°F, the humidity is 68%, and skies are overcast.  Winds are from the west…

Some Welcome Sun . . . . .

Some Welcome Sun . . . . .

We have the sun today, but it doesn’t do much to warm it up.  Temperatures slipped below zero last night and highs today won’t be very warm in spite of the sun.  We had clear skies early, but now a few clouds are moving in.  At least we shouldn’t see any snow today.  We have about six inches of snow cover and hopefully it won’t last much longer. Our 12:30 PM temperature is 20°F, the humidity is 63%, and skies…

It Just Won’t Quit Snowing . . . .

It Just Won’t Quit Snowing . . . .

I am so tired of shoveling snow everyday.  It isn’t much, but still enough to have to walk in.  It is mainly lake effect, and only about an inch each day . . . . . .but enough already.  This week will be very cold with highs only in the teens today through Wednesday, then no promise of any significant warmup after that.  This is becoming a very long winter and I’m more than ready for spring. Our 11:15 AM…

Winter Storm Watch In Effect . . . .

Winter Storm Watch In Effect . . . .

We have another winter storm knocking on our door.  Right now, we have freezing rain, then later we can expect up to 8-10 inches of new snow by tomorrow night.  It will be interesting to see how much we actually get.  Sometimes the weather forecasters get a bit carried away with their predictions. Our 1:30 PM temperature is 30F, the humidity is 94% and winds are from the E at 2-4 mph.  The pressure is 29.68 in and falling and…

More Snow On The Way . . . .

More Snow On The Way . . . .

This snow machine doesn’t want to turn off.  We seem to have snow everyday, and now another round is heading our way for the weekend.  We have five inches on the ground from Wednesday’s storm, and another inch was added yesterday from lake effect snow squalls throughout the day.  Today began with clear skies, but now clouds have taken over.  I’m seeing that we can expect another inch or so today.  This has been a real winter for us, the…

Snowstorm Over, Sun Is Out . . . .

Snowstorm Over, Sun Is Out . . . .

Our snowstorm is over and we have an additional five inches of ground cover.  We had some residual flurries early but now the sky has partially cleared and the sun is shining brightly.  We didn’t get nearly the snow that was predicted but that’s okay.  Five inches is a good amount.  I’m seeing that some areas, not too far from us, got more.  We still have the storm on Saturday to look forward to. Our 11:15 AM temperature is 24°F,…

Winter Weather Advisory In Effect . . . .

Winter Weather Advisory In Effect . . . .

A large snow system is heading our way although it seems to be down-played a bit.  We are expecting between 2 and 6 inches from this storm, then another will be coming on Saturday.  I’m hearing that the weekend storm may bring more snow than what we’ll get today.  Regardless,  they down graded us from a watch to an advisory. Our 10:45 AM temp is 21°F, the humidity is 81%, and skies are overcast.  Winds are from the NE at…

Some Real Winter Weather Coming Our Way . . . .

Some Real Winter Weather Coming Our Way . . . .

We are keeping an eye on two winter storms heading our way.  The first will arrive late tomorrow and end early on Thursday.  The second is expected to come on Saturday, and no one is estimating how much snow we will get from that one.  Some local weather gurus are saying that we could get up to 10 inches by the time it is done.  Today we have cloudy skies and intermittent snow flurries.  Temperatures are not too bad and…

Partly Cloudy / Sunny . . . . .

Partly Cloudy / Sunny . . . . .

Although yesterday was cloudy, we saw light, intermittent snow flurries throughout the day.  It left no additional snow cover  Today is quite a bit brighter, and temps will be warm enough to melt some of the ice.  The predicted snowstorms this week are still a go, and measurable snow amounts are expected on Wednesday, as well as this coming weekend.  I’ve heard of possible snow amounts anywhere from only 2 inches to 10.  So this another wait and see scenario….

A Few Flurries . . . .

A Few Flurries . . . .

Yesterday afternoon brought a winter mix of freezing rain, sleet and a little snow.  It left about quarter of an inch of frozen snow, or whatever, on our deck.  Thankfully, it wasn’t slippery.  This morning brought light snow flurries, not enough to accumulate.  We continue to have about 1.5″ of frozen mess on the lawn, and it just doesn’t get warm enough for any of it to melt.  Now we have another storm heading our way.  At this time, it…
