Feels like Autumn . . . .

Feels like Autumn . . . .

Today is much cooler than yesterday.  Temperatures this morning were in the 30s although I didn’t see any evidence of frost.  I brought my hanging plants in anyway.  Tonight will be another cold one but then temps will begin to moderate once again by Thursday.  Mother Nature is breaking us in to the winter season gradually. Our 2:45 PM temperature is 51°F, the humidity is 52%, and skies are partly cloudy.  Winds are from the north at 4-7 mph, and…

Much Needed Rain . . . . .

Much Needed Rain . . . . .

We received some much needed rain over the weekend, about an inch for my area.  The trees are finally showing some color.  Today will be much cooler than what we’ve become accustomed to lately, but it will warm up again by the weekend.  We still have a chance for more rain today, but it is sunny and mostly clear at this time. Our 10:15 AM temperature is 45°F (7°C), the humidity is 90%, and winds are from the N at…

Finally, Some Rain . . . .

Finally, Some Rain . . . .

It started raining around 6PM yesterday, and we receive 0.33″ by midnight.  Today has been dreary and damp, but no more rain so far.  They are telling us that we could get another round of showers later this afternoon.  We sure could use it.  This has not been a good year for color.  Many of the leaves have just dried up and fallen off.  Many are half bare already.  Rarely are our autumns this dry. Our 12:30 PM temperature is…

One More Dry Day . . . .

One More Dry Day . . . .

We have rain in our forecast for tomorrow and early next week.  I hope it’s enough to matter.  I’m hearing that there are wildfires in the UP, and that’s always a possibility when we don’t get any rain for a long time.  This weather is very unusual for autumn and I’m wondering what winter will bring.  The last three winters have been mild and this one may be also. Our 10:45 AM temperature is 54°F (12°C), the humidity is 80%,…

Hazy Sun For Our Friday . . . .

Hazy Sun For Our Friday . . . .

We had northern lights last night, but the sky was hazy so they weren’t very bright.  Today, the sky also has a light cover of clouds or smoke . . . . not sure which, but the sun is shining so it’s okay with me.  Temperatures are back into the summer range and I know this isn’t going to happen much longer.    My hanging flower baskets look wonderful, so I’ll keep them from the frost as long as possible.  We…

Still Too Dry . . . .

Still Too Dry . . . .

We have another dry but cool day.  There is some color developing on bushes and trees but many leaves are just drying up and falling off.    We may see a little rain this weekend but no great amounts from what I understand.  I guess any is better than nothing. Our 12 noon temperature is 56°F, the humidity is 63%, and skies are clear.  Winds are from the NE at 3-5 mph, and the pressure is 30.16 in and steady. …

Another Day Just Like The Last . . . .

Another Day Just Like The Last . . . .

As Hurricane Milton is bearing down on Florida, they are already getting very heavy rains and tornadoes.   Landfall is still expected early tomorrow morning somewhere near the Tampa-St Petersburg area.  It is expected to be the worst in over 100 years and most of the island cities are empty.  Prayers for all the folks down there. Our 1 PM temperature is 61°F (16°C), the humidity is 38%, and winds are from the NW at 6-12 mph.  The pressure is…

Continued Dry But Cooler . . . .

Continued Dry But Cooler . . . .

The eyes of the nation are on Florida today with a large, wicked hurricane knocking on their door.  Hurricane Milton is expected to come on shore in the Tampa area early Thursday morning.  Most of the state of Florida will be affected.  We, in Michigan, are still enjoying nice weather although we need rain.  We could see our first frost this week, so I’ll have to bring my hanging plants in for the night. Our 4:30 PM temperature is 67°F,…

Clear, Sunny And Dry . . . .

Clear, Sunny And Dry . . . .

Sept. 23 was the last time that we had any significant rainfall.  It is getting very dry and we could use some of that rain that the hurricanes are bringing to our southeast.  Maybe I should be careful what I wish for.  Regardless, yesterday was nice except we did have strong winds.  Some gusts reached 30 mph, so doing anything outdoors wasn’t too pleasant.  Today is much better. Our 1PM temperature is 62°F, the humidity is 44%, and winds are…

Mild But Windy . . . .

Mild But Windy . . . .

As we enjoy lovely autumn weather, the southeast is preparing for yet another hurricane.  While Florida is still trying to clean up after Helena, another one, Milton, seems to be heading straight for them.  The only question is where it will land.  As for us, we’re under a red flag warning since it has been so dry.  Many of our trees are dropping leaves with no color change because it has been so dry.  Also it will be very windy…
