The End Is In Sight For Our Record Heat – Mid Michigan
Today should be the last for this heat wave and I’m thankful for it. Other than Sunday, when we were out on the lake all afternoon, it’s been a struggle for me. I don’t tolerate heat well, especially for long periods of time. I guess that’s why I’ll always live in Michigan. Today we’ll be traveling to Petoskey where my brother-in-law is hospitalized. He isn’t doing well following cancer surgery with complications. The weather should be a little cooler with highs only in the mid 80s (if you want to call that cool). I had the AC on all night but it hardly ran. The temperatures fell low enough that I opened a few windows before day break.
Our 11 AM temp is 77°F (25°C), the humidity is 60%, and winds are from the SSE at 5 mph. The heat index is 79°F (26°C). The dew point is 63°F (17°C). The pressure is 29.93 in (1013.2 mb) and falling. Yesterday’s high was 91°F (33°C) and the overnight low was 54°F (12°C). The old record high for Sept. 25 was 80°F set back in 2007, and of course yesterday’s high broke that. The record low is 25°F (-4°C) set in 2000. Averages for this date are 65°F / 40°F.
