Our morning began with visibility close to zero, but now that the sun is up, it seems to be dissipating. Today should be the beginning of a significant warm-up for us with highs expected in the mid 70s. Hurricane Florence should keep a large high pressure center in place most of the week which will bring us wonderful weather. With the eastern seaboard bracing for Hurricane Florence, we are expected to be spared from this storm, even though it appears to be heading right for us. One local meteorologist said that strong high pressure will keep it to our east and it will stall out over those unfortunate to be in it’s path causing flooding rains. The first week of September hasn’t been kind to Michigan as many lines of storms moved through bringing damaging winds and tornadoes to the state over a 5 day period. Yesterday brought more heavy rain to the same areas that were affected by Tuesday’s storms. We sat out last night watching the lightning as it passed to our northwest. Yesterday was quite tranquil until late afternoon. We then began to see storms develop with even a tornado warning in the Jackson area. I haven’t heard of any damage or actual tornadoes however.
