Our weather has remained constant with very little changes expected in the near future. I guess that’s a good thing. Little by little, our snow cover is disappearing and we now have about 50%. Temperatures are remaining in the upper 20s to low 30s with very little precipitation. This is the time of year when we usually get our coldest weather, but it’s not happening. It isn’t really warm but still much above average for this date. After what the Farmers Almanac predicted, everyone was so sure that we were going to be snowed in this winter. It’s been anything but. Our snow pack is now down to 2.5 inches and still melting. I can’t believe how warm our winter has been so far. Frankenmuth is having their winter festival with all the ice and snow carvings. Today will be the first that we will see temps above the freezing mark this week. I’m hoping that the ice on my deck melts enough where I can scoop it up with my snow shovel. We are getting a few peeks of the sun this morning although the sky is mostly cloudy. Temperatures should be a little warmer, and if the sun would be out for a while, we could get rid of some of this ice. That’s the trouble with ice storms. Afterward, it always get very cold and we’re stuck with it until the next good thaw. And we never know how soon that will happen. At least there aren’t any big storms…

It started snowing Friday night and hasn’t stopped since. We did lose a little yesterday between snow showers, and last night we had a period of rain which melted a little. Today, it’s been snowing since I got up. When I measured at 9 AM, we had about 4.75″ of snow/ice cover. Now it looks like we picked up an additional inch since then. We have yet another storm knocking on our door, but this time it should be snow, not ice. It is expected to begin tonight and last through most of tomorrow. The winter weather advisory is from midnight tonight until noon tomorrow. Snow amounts are expected to be around 3-6 inches. That’s much better than ice.
