Our First Stormy Day This Spring – Mid Michigan
A large area of thunderstorms formed over mid Michigan and moved to the south late yesterday. There were no storm warnings issued although there should have been. Local forecasters said that they didn’t actually reach severe levels although there was plenty of wind damage done. Here at my house, we received 0.24″ of rain and there isn’t any wind damage that I can see. My weather station recorded 54 lightning strikes with the closest being 1 mile away. Durand was without power for a while but we lucked out. Our power blinked a few times but came back on after a few seconds. Winds were gusty at the height of the storm but I’m not certain what our highest gust was. Some areas receive over an inch of badly needed rain while others very little. Hopefully we’ll get more rain today.
Our 8:45 AM temperature is 64°F (18°C), the humidity is 98% and the dew point is 64°F (18°C). Winds are from the NE at 2-3 mph. The pressure is 29.96 in (1014.6 mb) and steady. Yesterday’s high was 87°F (31°C) and our overnight low was 60°F (16°C). Average temps for this date are 77°F /55°F. Skies are cloudy and we have light fog. Visibility is 5 miles. Sunrise was at 5:57 AM and sunset will be at 9:16 PM.
