At Least It’s Sunny Today – Mid Michigan
This has been a very unusual January for our part of the country. The picture is showing what has been going on as far as winter storms go, and they have been totally missing Michigan. Today is yet another sunny day. That, too, is unusual for Michigan in January. For those who love winter sports, it’s been a disappointment, but for those of us old folks, we aren’t complaining. There is snow in our forecast for early next week and they aren’t really giving any definite snow totals yet, but I’m hearing 2-4 inches at this time. Although the storms have been missing us, the clipper systems have not. Highs today will only reach the teens and next week will remain below freezing. I guess a January thaw is out of the question this year.
Our 2 PM temperature is 20°F (-7°C), the humidity is 56%, and skies are clear. Our snow cover has diminished to about 50%. Winds are from the south at 2-5 mph, and the wind chill is 14°F (-10°C). Visibility is 12 miles and the pressure is 30.38 in (1028,8 mb) and falling. The dew point is 5°F (-15°C). Sunrise was at 8:02 AM and sunset will be at 5:35 PM. Yesterday’s high was 19°F (-7°C) and the overnight low was 11°F (-12°C).
