Powerful Thunderstorms Arrived As Promised – Mid Michigan
We were warned of the possibility of severe weather yesterday, and the storms that happened were “overachievers” according to one meteorologist. The above picture shows the radar from yesterday and you can see the massive amount of lightning strikes. There are many in the state without power and much structural and tree damage. I haven’t heard the number of actual tornadoes, but with hurricane-force winds, it didn’t really matter. Yes, winds that came with this storm were recorded at 70-80 mph. We have a tree down across our road, and as of 12:30, it hadn’t been removed yet. We were very lucky, and although our power went off about 6 times during the storm, it always came back on. My son lives in Northville and he was stationed in Okinawa while in the Air Force. He went through 2 Typhoons while there, and he said that this storm was very similar in intensity to those storms. Our weather this week is expected to be much cooler with little rain.
Our 2 PM temperature is 73°F (23°C), the humidity is 82%, and winds are from the N at 1-4 mph. The pressure is 30.00 in (1015.9 mb) and steady. Yesterday’s high was 83°F (28°C) and the overnight low was 66F (19°C). Average temps for this date are 79°F/57°F. Sunrise was at 6:54 AM and sunset was at 8:25 PM.
