Thunderstorms And Tornadoes . . . . .

Thunderstorms And Tornadoes . . . . .

After warning us all day yesterday that we had a marginal chance for severe weather, but a very slight chance for tornadoes, guess what???  Several tornadoes hit the state.  The closest to us was Grand Blanc, which is just south of Flint.  It’s about 25 miles from us.  Thankfully, I have heard of no injuries or deaths, but quite a bit of property damage.  We did have a good, summer-type thunderstorm, but nothing even close to severe.  We were lucky.  Our temperatures dropped about 30 degrees since yesterday, and now we have lake effect snow flurries.  Our summer-like temperatures are gone for a few days, but expected to return again early next week.  Maybe more tornadoes!

Our 1:15 PM temperature is 25°F (-4°C), the humidity is 70%, and skies are overcast with light snow flurries.  Winds are from the west at 20-31 mph and we are under a wind advisory. The pressure is 29.72 in (1006.4 mb) and rising.  The dew point is 16°F (-9°C) and visibility is 3 miles.  Yesterday’s high was a record breaking 75°F (24°C) and the overnight low was 24°F (-4°C).  Average temps for this date are 37°F/20°F.  The old record high for Feb. 27 was 64°F (18°C), set in 1867, and the record low is -20°F (-29°C), set in 1994.  Sunrise was at 7:16 AM, and sunset will be at 6:24 PM.
