Tornadoes, Windy Weather . . . . .

Tornadoes, Windy Weather . . . . .

I heard that there were seven tornadoes late yesterday which struck the southwest corner of our state.   There was only supposed to be a very slight chance of severe weather, and even a lesser chance for tornadoes.  Portage, MI got the worst of it, but there was damage in other areas as well.  The watches and warnings didn’t come up as far as my county but Lansing was included.  I always enjoy a good thunderstorm, but not when they bring…

Thunderstorms Possible . . . .

Thunderstorms Possible . . . .

Today could be another stormy one for parts of the country, including us.  It does appear that the storms should diminish in strength as they head our way.  Hopefully that will happen.  Tornadoes made a mess in areas of Oklahoma and Texas over the past several days and there seems to be no end in sight.  The weather service predicted that this would be a stormy spring, and so far they have been right. Our morning is starting out with…

Another Chilly May Day . . . .

Another Chilly May Day . . . .

Looking at the national weather map, it appears that the storm chasers won’t be bored today.  Unfortunately, these storms seem to keep attacking the same areas almost everyday.  Plus now many of the affected areas are dealing with flooding as well.  One YouTube forecaster said that grapefruit size hail will be possible with some of these storms.  I sure hope that the livestock in these areas have somewhere to go for shelter.  As for us, we’re supposed to see some…

Cloudy And Mild . . . . .

Cloudy And Mild . . . . .

We had a very mild night and it was great sleeping.  Today, however, won’t warm up much with highs only in the low 70s expected.  I finally got my hummingbird feeder out.  I’m a little late this year and I’ll see how long it takes them to notice it.  We had a few sprinkles of rain yesterday, but not enough to measure.  We aren’t expecting much sun today, but no rain either. Our 1:15 PM temperature is 64°F (18°C), the…

A Little Overnight Thunder . . . .

A Little Overnight Thunder . . . .

Yesterday was quite nice, but what began as sunny, became overcast as the day wore on.  Some rain developed overnight, and there were a few thundershowers included.  There was  0.31″ of rain in my gauge this morning, and the rain continued for a few more hours after that.  Now the sun is shining with a few breaks in the clouds.  Radar is showing the rain to be past us for now, but with the sun out, I think a few…

Again, Warm And Sunny . . . . .

Again, Warm And Sunny . . . . .

We have plenty of sun today and comfortable temperatures.  Even the wind isn’t blowing so hard today, so all and all, it’s a nice day in Michigan.  All the nasty weather remains to our south and west, and I’m happy about that.  I feel for those who are dealing with severe weather day after day, and I’m sure that it’s really getting old for them.  According to Ryan Hall, my go-to YouTube weather guy, it’s far from over. Our 2:15…

Sunny And Warm . . . .

Sunny And Warm . . . .

There just seems to be no end to severe weather in the mid section of the country  . . . .  and it seems to keep hitting the same areas.  As for us, we complain because it’s a little windy, but at least we’re seeing the sun much of the time.  Today will almost feel like summer, with highs reaching the mid to upper 70s.  We had a few sprinkles of rain early this morning but only a trace of…
