Cooler Temps After The Storms . . . .

Cooler Temps After The Storms . . . .

After a stormy Saturday, our Sunday is much cooler but windy.  We had no strong storms here, but the western and central portions of the lower peninsula had a few warnings.  I haven’t heard any damage reports yet, but I’m sure there are some.  We had a little thunder shower around 1 AM which left  0.34″ in my rain gauge.  Now our sky is mostly clear and there is no more rain in our forecast until Tuesday. Our 10:30 AM…

More Heat, More Storms . . . .

More Heat, More Storms . . . .

Although we had a brief shower yesterday, early in the day, other storms managed to miss us.  We did hear thunder as they passed us by, but no rain.  It could be the same today, as there is a lot of rain showing on the radar north of us.  We are promised a reprieve from this heat next week although it will still be in the  80s, just not as humid. Our 12:30 PM temperature is 85°F, the humidity is…

Heat, Humidity = Storms . . . .

Heat, Humidity = Storms . . . .

Southern lower Michigan fell victim to some strong storms yesterday afternoon.  Storm cells were developing sporadically, and even resulted in a few tornado warnings although no touch downs.  We can expect the same today and tomorrow.  They all missed my area but we did have a quick shower this morning, which suddenly developed just to our west.  We should get some relief from this heat and humidity next week, and it will be greatly welcome. Our 10:30 AM temperature is…

Pop-Up Storms With The Heat . . . .

Pop-Up Storms With The Heat . . . .

We can expect more storms to pop up this afternoon and tonight.  We did have a short-lived downpour this morning which left 0.15″ in my gauge.  High’s are expected to be lower than yesterday, but will still be uncomfortably hot.  I feel sorry for anyone without AC.  There were a few severe storm warnings late yesterday in the southern portions of our state, but I haven’t heard much in terms of damage.  Storms are expected right through the weekend. Our…

Uncomfortably Hot . . . .

Uncomfortably Hot . . . .

We have another day of  90ish weather and needless to say, I won’t be outdoors much today.  It feels like it could rain but there is little in our forecast.  A heat advisory remains in effect, and our skies have a light cloud cover with somewhat filtered sun.  There is a good breeze so that helps.  The humidity isn’t too bad either. Our 3 PM temperature is 90°F (32°C), the humidity is 53%, and winds are from the SW at…

Heat Advisory Continues . . . .

Heat Advisory Continues . . . .

Our hot weather continues with highs in the 90s.  With that comes the chance of thunderstorms, and those are welcome with this heat.  We had no rain yesterday, but could see some late this afternoon.  I always love a good summer thunderstorm as long as it doesn’t reach severe levels. Our 10:45 AM temperature is 85°F (29°C), the humidity is 66%, and skies are partly cloudy.  Winds are from the S at 4-12 mph, and the pressure is 29.99 in…

Hot, Humid, High Dew Point . . . .

Hot, Humid, High Dew Point . . . .

I’m told that last night was pretty noisy.  Thunderstorms moved in around 3 AM, and continued until around 6:30 AM.  I woke at around 6 AM and heard the thunder, but missed the rest of it.  My husband and son both remarked at how loud the thunder was.  I must have been in REM sleep.  Anyway, there was 0.69″ in my gauge, so the newly planted fields got a good soaking.  We could see a few more storms today, and…

The Heat Begins Today . . . .

The Heat Begins Today . . . .

Michigan dads have a beautiful day to celebrate.  I can’t speak for the rest of the country but we’ll take today for sure.  On the negative side, today will be the coolest that we’ll have for awhile, if forecasts are correct.  The rest of this week could see highs in the 90s, and even pushing close to 100F.  I can’t remember the last time we reached 100 degrees, but I think it was back in the 1970s.  Regardless, that’s much…

One Last Cooler Day . . . .

One Last Cooler Day . . . .

We have a major heat wave descending on us for this upcoming week.  This will not be a good time for an AC breakdown.  Monday will be the hottest with temps rising to the upper  90s.  Even the overnight lows will be very warm and dew points uncomfortably high.  It will be a good recipe for some strong, if not severe, thunderstorms.  When it gets this hot, rain is welcome. Our 11:15 AM temperature is 70°F, the humidity is 51%,…

Another Perfect Sunny Day . . . .

Another Perfect Sunny Day . . . .

I’ve been gone a few days because we were without internet.  Now our new one is up and running so hopefully it will work better.  Yesterday was stormy for a few areas, but all the storms totally missed us.  There was a lot of lightning showing on my weather station, but not one drop of rain.  Today is cooler with much less humidity, so an okay day in my book. Our 2:15 PM temperature is 78°F, the humidity is 41%,…
