Hot, Humid, High Dew Point . . . .

Hot, Humid, High Dew Point . . . .

I’m told that last night was pretty noisy.  Thunderstorms moved in around 3 AM, and continued until around 6:30 AM.  I woke at around 6 AM and heard the thunder, but missed the rest of it.  My husband and son both remarked at how loud the thunder was.  I must have been in REM sleep.  Anyway, there was 0.69″ in my gauge, so the newly planted fields got a good soaking.  We could see a few more storms today, and…

The Heat Begins Today . . . .

The Heat Begins Today . . . .

Michigan dads have a beautiful day to celebrate.  I can’t speak for the rest of the country but we’ll take today for sure.  On the negative side, today will be the coolest that we’ll have for awhile, if forecasts are correct.  The rest of this week could see highs in the 90s, and even pushing close to 100F.  I can’t remember the last time we reached 100 degrees, but I think it was back in the 1970s.  Regardless, that’s much…

One Last Cooler Day . . . .

One Last Cooler Day . . . .

We have a major heat wave descending on us for this upcoming week.  This will not be a good time for an AC breakdown.  Monday will be the hottest with temps rising to the upper  90s.  Even the overnight lows will be very warm and dew points uncomfortably high.  It will be a good recipe for some strong, if not severe, thunderstorms.  When it gets this hot, rain is welcome. Our 11:15 AM temperature is 70°F, the humidity is 51%,…

Another Perfect Sunny Day . . . .

Another Perfect Sunny Day . . . .

I’ve been gone a few days because we were without internet.  Now our new one is up and running so hopefully it will work better.  Yesterday was stormy for a few areas, but all the storms totally missed us.  There was a lot of lightning showing on my weather station, but not one drop of rain.  Today is cooler with much less humidity, so an okay day in my book. Our 2:15 PM temperature is 78°F, the humidity is 41%,…

Almost A Perfect Day . . . . .

Almost A Perfect Day . . . . .

Although it’s a little too windy to be perfect, it’s still a lovely day.  At least it isn’t raining and cloudy.  Highs should reach the mid 70s today, so that’s perfect in my book.  I have heard that temperatures next week will be hot, but looking at the forecast for this upcoming week, they don’t seem too extreme. We’ll take it. Our 1 PM temperature is 73°F (23°C), the humidity is 52%, and skies are mostly clear.  Winds are from…

More Rain Expected . . . .

More Rain Expected . . . .

There is a dome of hot air heading our way from the west  The cool spell, that we have right now, will be history next week.  The western US is expecting the worst of it with triple digit temperatures.  I’m hoping that it doesn’t get that hot here.  It’s been a long time since we’ve had that kind of weather and it’s something that we can do without. Our 1:15 PM temperature is 72°F, the humidity is 43%, and skies…

Cloudy And Much Cooler . . . . .

Cloudy And Much Cooler . . . . .

Today feels more like early May than June.  Temps probably won’t make it out of the 60s, and winds will be quite brisk.  There is a slight chance for rain, but very little showing on radar at this time.  This cool weather is expected to last until mid week. Our 10:45 AM  temperature is 63°F (17°C), the humidity is 67%, and winds are from the W at 4-10 mph, gusting higher at times.  The pressure is 29.73 in (1006.8 mb)…

Yesterday was quite pleasant until the storms moved in.  There were no storm warnings, but were told that some storms could be heavy.  We had an intense downpour around 3 PM which left  0.80″ in my gauge.  Then a little more rain happened  overnight, dropping another 0.10″.  Livonia, a suburb of Detroit, was hit by an EF1 tornado, which resulted in the death of a little boy, and his mother critically injured.  This same system moved east resulting in more…

Storms On The Way . . .

Storms On The Way . . .

We are expecting some pretty significant thunderstorms this afternoon.  There are none showing on radar at this time.  Skies are cloudy with a little  filtered sun shining through.  We will see a moderate decrease in our high temperatures over the next week, on some days not even reaching the 70s.  I’ll take that over the  90s anytime. Our 11:45 AM temp is 77°F (25°C), the humidity is 76%, and winds are from the south at 10-13 mph, gusting higher at…

A Very Summer-Like Day . . . .

A Very Summer-Like Day . . . .

Today will be one of the hottest that we’ve seen this year, maybe even a record breaker.  It will usher in more rain and thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow.  Then much cooler weather will be around for awhile as the 8-14 day temperature map shows.  I love it.  Hot weather and I just don’t get along too well. Our 11:15 AM temperature is 79°F, the humidity is 64%, and skies are lightly cloud covered.  Winds are from the SW at 4-7…
