Another Perfect Fall Day . . . .

Another Perfect Fall Day . . . .

Once again, we have a gorgeous weekend to enjoy before winter-type weather is upon us.  This autumn has been extraordinary for Michigan in terms of weather.  Usually this is a rainy season for us, and rain has been scarce this year.  It’s actually a good thing for the farmers as they are busy cutting the corn and soy beans.  We are certainly fortunate compared to what other  parts of the country are going through. Our 10:15 AM temperature is 61°F…

Sunny And 70 Degrees . . . .

Sunny And 70 Degrees . . . .

Once again, we have clear skies and temps much warmer than normal.  I’m certainly not complaining and would love a few days in the 70s all through winter.  We know that won’t happen . . . .but it could.  This has been a strange autumn with summer not wanting to let go, or so it seems.  In fact, our temperatures aren’t expected to get back to normal until Thursday.  It will be balmy and nice until then.  No rain expected…

Another Warm Day . . . .

Another Warm Day . . . .

Our warm weather has returned and we should have plenty of sun today.  We are almost at peak color but many trees are already bare.  The dry weather took it’s tole on our autumn colors.  We are expecting another round of unseasonably dry weather with no rain in the forecast until Wednesday.  Last night brought another frost to go with the beautiful harvest moon, and that should do it for frosty nights for a while. Our 1:30 PM temperature is…

The Start Of A Beautiful Day . . . .

The Start Of A Beautiful Day . . . .

After a frosty night, this morning is sunny and feeling quite warm in spite of what the thermometer says.  Today will be much warmer than the past two and temps should reach well into the 60s this afternoon.  Extended forecast maps are all showing Michigan to have a mild winter, so we’ll see if that holds true.  We haven’t had a hard winter in quite a few years so we’re overdo. Our 11:30 AM temperature is 53°F (12°C), the humidity…

Sunny, A Little Warmer . . . .

Sunny, A Little Warmer . . . .

Yesterday felt cold, even with a jacket on.  Today won’t be much better but we could see more sun.  Warmer weather is on the way for the weekend but we have to accept the fact that these warm days won’t last much longer.  Bow season for deer  began October 1, so we’re seeing hunters in various parts of the woods and fields around here.  We let our one neighbor hunt our property, and he usually gets one every year.  My…

Feels like Autumn . . . .

Feels like Autumn . . . .

Today is much cooler than yesterday.  Temperatures this morning were in the 30s although I didn’t see any evidence of frost.  I brought my hanging plants in anyway.  Tonight will be another cold one but then temps will begin to moderate once again by Thursday.  Mother Nature is breaking us in to the winter season gradually. Our 2:45 PM temperature is 51°F, the humidity is 52%, and skies are partly cloudy.  Winds are from the north at 4-7 mph, and…

Much Needed Rain . . . . .

Much Needed Rain . . . . .

We received some much needed rain over the weekend, about an inch for my area.  The trees are finally showing some color.  Today will be much cooler than what we’ve become accustomed to lately, but it will warm up again by the weekend.  We still have a chance for more rain today, but it is sunny and mostly clear at this time. Our 10:15 AM temperature is 45°F (7°C), the humidity is 90%, and winds are from the N at…

Finally, Some Rain . . . .

Finally, Some Rain . . . .

It started raining around 6PM yesterday, and we receive 0.33″ by midnight.  Today has been dreary and damp, but no more rain so far.  They are telling us that we could get another round of showers later this afternoon.  We sure could use it.  This has not been a good year for color.  Many of the leaves have just dried up and fallen off.  Many are half bare already.  Rarely are our autumns this dry. Our 12:30 PM temperature is…

One More Dry Day . . . .

One More Dry Day . . . .

We have rain in our forecast for tomorrow and early next week.  I hope it’s enough to matter.  I’m hearing that there are wildfires in the UP, and that’s always a possibility when we don’t get any rain for a long time.  This weather is very unusual for autumn and I’m wondering what winter will bring.  The last three winters have been mild and this one may be also. Our 10:45 AM temperature is 54°F (12°C), the humidity is 80%,…

Hazy Sun For Our Friday . . . .

Hazy Sun For Our Friday . . . .

We had northern lights last night, but the sky was hazy so they weren’t very bright.  Today, the sky also has a light cover of clouds or smoke . . . . not sure which, but the sun is shining so it’s okay with me.  Temperatures are back into the summer range and I know this isn’t going to happen much longer.    My hanging flower baskets look wonderful, so I’ll keep them from the frost as long as possible.  We…
