Very Cold, Light Lake Effect Snow . . . .

We have very frigid temps today with highs only expected to remain in the single digits.  Besides that, we have light lake effect snow showers.  So it feels like a very January day.  On this inauguration day, Washington DC is also very cold and I hope that all attending the festivities are dressed warm.  I’m happy that I’m watching it on my TV in a warm room.

Our 1:30 PM temperature is 10°F (-12°C), the humidity is 81%, and winds are from the SW at 4-10 mph giving us a wind chill of 2°F (-17°C).  The pressure is 30.21 in (1023.0 mb) and steady.  The dew point is 2°F (-17°C) and visibility is only one mile.  Yesterday’s high was 19°F (-7°C) and the overnight low was -1°F (-18°C).  Average temps for this date are 29°F/15°F.  Record temps for Jan. 19 are 60°F (1907) and -20°F (1994).  Sunrise was at 8:03 AM and sunset will be at 5:34 PM.
