Winter Weather Advisory In Effect . . . .

Winter Weather Advisory In Effect . . . .

We have snow falling at this time and our weather advisory is forecasting about 2-4 inches by the time it is done at 1 AM.  Our temperatures have warmed up a bit from this morning, but will still remain below the freezing mark.  There is no significant warm-up expected anytime soon. Our 1:45 PM temperature is 24°F (-4°C), the humidity is 91%, and skies are overcast with snow.  Winds are from the S at 6-12 mph, and the pressure is…

Sunshine After A Very Cold Morning . . .

Sunshine After A Very Cold Morning . . .

My weather station showed -1F this morning at 8:30.  All other nearby weather stations showed temps in the teens.  Why was it so much colder at my house?  Did we have clear skies and everyone else had clouds?  I don’t get it!  Regardless, we have plenty of sun right now and temps have warmed up significantly.  The big weather story today is the disastrous fires in Los Angeles.  High winds and lack of water is making it an almost impossible…

More Clouds And Snow Flurries . . .

More Clouds And Snow Flurries . . .

There is really nothing new to report.  My blogs have been pretty redundant lately, but what can I say?  Each day is just like the last.  We still see no end to these below freezing temperatures, so the little snow that we continue to have, will be with us a while longer.  At least we aren’t buried like our neighbors to the south are, and even Texas is expecting a big snow event.  Go figure! Our 2 PM temperature is…

A Much Quieter Day . . .

A Much Quieter Day . . .

Looking at the national weather map, today is much more quiet than the past two, with the snow storm and severe weather having moved off to the east.  High pressure is now dominating most of the country and I’m sure it’s a relief to those in Kansas and Missouri.  Unfortunately, our temperatures haven’t risen much, so no help from Mother Nature in the thawing department.  It doesn’t seem to be any happening in the near future either.  I guess we’re…

Tranquil Weather Compared To What’s South Of Us . . . .

Tranquil Weather Compared To What’s South Of Us . . . .

We sure can’t complain seeing what’s happening in Kansas and Missouri.  My brother lives in DC and they’re expecting as much as a foot of snow.  But the areas with the ice are hurting.  Lots of power outages and snow on top of ice.  We had our share of that back in December of 2013 . . . .no power for Christmas Day.  I can’t believe it was that long ago.  I haven’t heard much yet about the storm which…

Early Sun, Now Clouds And Flurries . . . .

Early Sun, Now Clouds And Flurries . . . .

Our day began with clear skies and sun.  Now we have overcast skies and snow flurries.  The central portions of the country are being buried under snow and ice.  Originally, we thought that some of that would come our way, but we lucked out once again.  Although we have very chilly temperatures, our snow cover remains at about 1.5″.  The little snow showers that we get aren’t adding to that.  Most of these are quick lake effect showers and aren’t…

Cold And Windy . . . .

Cold And Windy . . . .

Today will be cold and no relief is sight.  We have about 1.5″ of snow cover at this time. The winter storm expected early next week will remain well to our south, so no problems for us expected from that one.  There are no temps above freezing expected for us anytime soon, so guess we may as well get used to what we have. Our 2 PM temp is 22°F, the humidity is 72%, and winds are from the W…

Really Feels Like January . . . .

Really Feels Like January . . . .

The deep freeze is upon us.  Yesterday saw no thawing and we won’t see it today either.  In fact, I don’t expect any melting for at least a few weeks.  The big snow storm is still coming but will remain well to our south.  It seems that Kentucky and Tennessee will get the brunt of it.  Snow lovers will be disappointed. Our 10:30 AM temperature is 23°F (-5°C), the humidity is 91%, and skies are cloudy but I see the…

Back In The Deep Freeze . . . .

Back In The Deep Freeze . . . .

We had a few snow showers yesterday, but not enough to really add to the ground cover.  I guess I’d call it a trace of snow.  We had a little melting, but that’s not going to happen today.  We can still expect a few snow showers through the weekend, then no precip in the forecast through next Wednesday. Our 12:45 PM temperature is 26°F (-3°C), the humidity is 80%, and skies are overcast.  Winds are from the west at 6-11…
