Severe Storms/Tornadoes/Ice Storms . . . . .

Severe Storms/Tornadoes/Ice Storms . . . . .

What else can I say?  Michigan is a mess right now.  Severe ice storms have all but paralyzed northern Michigan, and severe thunderstorms have put many in the dark here in southern Michigan.  We, as well as many others, were under tornado warnings and many are without power this morning.  The system that caused havoc with us is now over the eastern states.  They can have it!  We lost a tree but still have power.  I’m thankful for that. Our…

Wet And Stormy . . . . .

Wet And Stormy . . . . .

The morning began with light rain which has ended for now.  We are expecting some pretty heavy storms later this afternoon and some could be severe.  Right now, it is quite pleasant.  I was just outdoors without a coat and was quite comfortable.  Even the winds are light but the air is heavy with moisture.  We received  0.33″ of rain overnight, which is badly needed. Our 12:30 PM temperature is 63°F, the humidity is 92%, and skies are overcast.  Winds…

Dreary But Warm . .. .

Dreary But Warm . .. .

Our morning is very mild but dreary.  We received  0.13″ of rain over the past 24 hours and highs could reach near 70°F today.  We are warned that tomorrow could be a rough one with plenty of severe weather to go around.  Our northern parts of the state have a major ice storm happening and they are all told to stay off the roads.   Northern Michigan can handle any amount of snow that they get, but ice is another matter. …

Rain On The Way . . . .

Rain On The Way . . . .

Today could bring some heavy weather to the mid sections of our country.  Northern Michigan is expecting a significant ice storm which will cause havoc for travelers today and tomorrow.  I wouldn’t be surprised if the Mackinaw bridge is closed for a while.  As for us, we could see thunderstorms this afternoon with a very slight chance that some could be severe.  This threat will continue through the weekend.  Right now, we have cloudy skies and a few peeks of…

Where Did Our Sun Go . . . .

Where Did Our Sun Go . . . .

Our morning was sunny and bright.  Now the clouds have moved in and there is a fine mist in the air.  This wasn’t supposed to happen.  It was supposed to be a nice day.  Conditions are getting very dry here, and we could use a good rain, but not what we’re getting.  At least temps have warmed up back to average. Our 3:15 PM temperature is 54°F, the humidity is 44% and skies are overcast.  Winds are from the west…

Some Sun At Last . . . .

Some Sun At Last . . . .

It seems good to see the sun again, even though we won’t get much warmth from it today.  I’m not seeing any precip in our forecast until Friday night, and we actually need a good rain.  Temperatures will continue to rise into the weekend, when we should see highs reaching into the 60s.  Don’t expect it to last, however. Our 12:45 PM temperature is 37°F (3°C), the humidity is 52%, and winds are from the W at 6-12 mph.  The…

Still More Clouds Than Sun . . . .

Still More Clouds Than Sun . . . .

After a cold, blustery Monday, today will see a little improvement, but our high temps will remain below average.  The wind won’t be as strong but still enough to give a significant wind chill.  We had a little rain/snow mix but no accumulation.  There was enough to leave 0.02″ in my rain gauge however. Our 10:30 AM temperature is 35°F (2°C), the humidity is 64%, and skies are mostly cloudy.  Winds are from the west at 8-17 mph, and the…

Wind Is The Issue . . . .

Wind Is The Issue . . . .

Today we have to deal with cold and very windy conditions.  On the positive side, warmer temps will be with us once again by the weekend.  Yesterday brought rain early, which then turned to wet snow.  Although the snow at times seemed quite heavy, it melted right away, so no accumulations.  There was  0.14″ in my rain gauge.  Now the sun is trying to shine through the overcast. Our 11:15 AM temp is 36°F (2°C), the humidity is 75% and…

Continued Cloudy And Cold . . . .

Continued Cloudy And Cold . . . .

Our seasonal weather continues.  Temps aren’t expected to make it out of the 40s today and we could see some rain or snow late this afternoon.  It will be a bit breezy but not too bad.  We had sun most of yesterday but temperatures were in the 40s all day. Our 12:30 PM temperature is 38°F (3°C), the humidity is 64% and winds are from the SE at 3-9 mph.  The pressure is 30.04 in (1018.0 mb) and steady  The…

A Little Snow And Cold Temperatures . . . .

A Little Snow And Cold Temperatures . . . .

We woke to a few snow pellets on our deck and below freezing temperatures.  Since then, it has warmed up a little but still below the comfortable level.  Skies look like they are attempting to clear  with some breaks in the cloud cover.  It isn’t even expected to reach 40F, so winter coats are back. Our 12 noon temperature is 33°F, the humidity is 53%, and winds are from the NW at 10-22 mph.  The wind chill is 23°F and…
