I have lived in Michigan all of my life and became very interested in the weather after the 1953 Flint tornado. This was one of the few EF5 tornadoes in our state's history (since records have been kept). Although we are not strangers to severe storms in Michigan, EF5 tornadoes are very rare. I live in an area where we rarely get a good thunderstorm, in fact, we haven't had one all summer. When I lived down by Detroit, they were frequent during the spring and summer months. I love experiencing the four seasons here in Michigan and I wouldn't live anywhere else.
Thanksgiving Eve . . . .

Thanksgiving Eve . . . .

Today’s weather should be calm but chilly.  We could see some snow flurries or a few rain drops, but don’t think we’ll see any sun today.  It will be a typical November day here in Michigan. Our 10:30 PM temperature is 33°F, the humidity is 84% and skies are overcast.  Winds are calm and the pressure is 29.90 in and steady.  The dew point is 28°F and visibility is 10 miles.  Yesterday’s high was 43°F and the overnight low was…

Finally, Some Sun . . . .

Finally, Some Sun . . . .

Looking out the window, one would think it was sunny and warm.  Well, the sunny part is right, but the temperature is far from warm, and the wind makes it even worse.  We did our running around for the day, and now it’s time to start preparing for Thanksgiving.  The weather for the holiday doesn’t seen too bad, but the weekend will really feel like winter. Our 3 PM temperature is 40°F, the humidity is 62%, and skies are mostly…

Wet And Gloomy . . . . .

Wet And Gloomy . . . . .

We have another wet, gloomy day, not at all unusual for November.  Our temperature will still be mild but much colder temps are in the forecast for the upcoming week.  I guess we really can’t complain with what this fall has been like.  At least we don’t have any major snow storms in the forecast . . . . at least not yet. Our 11 AM temp is 45°F, the humidity is 95%, and skies are overcast.  The pressure is…

Cold And Gloomy . . . .

Cold And Gloomy . . . .

Although it is dry, it looks like rain could fall anytime, although not in our forecast.  It seems to be a bit brighter than earlier but I don’t think we will see much, if any, sun today.  It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is this week already, and I’m seeing many Christmas lights going up outdoors.  Some people really get into decorating, and I do enjoy seeing them, but we’ve gotten too old to do much of that anymore.  I’ll…

Another Gloomy Day . . .

Another Gloomy Day . . .

Yesterday was drizzly and cold.  we don’t have the drizzle today, but temperatures are still very chilly.  Rain totals from yesterday were only 0.05″ and it has been dry so far today.  Temperatures should be a bit warmer, almost near 50°F.  The remainder of this week will see lower temperatures each day, and there is snow in the forecast for the weekend.  It looks like winter has finally decided to pay us a visit. Our 2:30 PM temperature is 45°F,…

A Dreary, Rainy Day . . . .

A Dreary, Rainy Day . . . .

Weather-wise, today is not nice at all.  It is cold, drizzly and enough wind to drive the cold right through you.  Yes, it is a typical day for late November in Michigan.  I guess I’ll just plan to stay indoors again today. Our 10 AM temperature is 41°F  (5°C), the humidity is 94%, and winds are from the NW at 4-7 mph.  Skies are overcast with drizzle, and the wind chill is 3°6F (2°C).  The pressure is 29.64 in and…

First Snow Of The Season . . . .

First Snow Of The Season . . . .

We had a very light covering of snow this morning, just on bare surfaces.  Now we have occasional sprinkles of rain and very chilly temperatures.  It really feels like winter out there.  We are now seeing a few peeks of the sun, coming out from behind dark clouds.  There is just enough wind to make it even colder, so I’m not going to be outdoors anymore than I have to. Our 2:30 PM temperature is 39°F (4°C), the humidity is…

Falling Temps Expected . . . .

Falling Temps Expected . . . .

This won’t be a nice day if you have to be outdoors.  Temperatures are mild to start out, but they will be dropping throughout the afternoon.  We had a little rain overnight, but a more significant band is heading our way.  Winds will also be picking up so there will be a wind chill to deal with.  But it is November after all. Our 9:45 AM temperature is 49°F (9°C), the humidity is 87%, and winds are from the west…

Another Dark, November Day . . . .

Another Dark, November Day . . . .

Our day began with light rain and cloudy skies.  Now it looks like the sun is trying to make an appearance.   Highs will reach near the low 60s and we’ll take it.  It’s actually quite nice outdoors right now.  I don’t ever remember having an autumn like this before.  It just doesn’t want to end.  But we better enjoy because I’m hearing that we could see snow for the first time on Thursday but not sure about any accumulations yet. …

Dense Fog This Morning . . . .

Dense Fog This Morning . . . .

We have dense fog this morning with visibility less than a mile.  Once that burns off, it should be a fairly decent day.  We should see quite a bit of sun today, then rain, and even snow, are in the forecast for the remainder of the week.  There is no great amounts of snow expected, just flurries at best. . . .  but we are almost at the end of November after all. Our 9AM temp is 39°F, the humidity…
