I have lived in Michigan all of my life and became very interested in the weather after the 1953 Flint tornado. This was one of the few EF5 tornadoes in our state's history (since records have been kept). Although we are not strangers to severe storms in Michigan, EF5 tornadoes are very rare. I live in an area where we rarely get a good thunderstorm, in fact, we haven't had one all summer. When I lived down by Detroit, they were frequent during the spring and summer months. I love experiencing the four seasons here in Michigan and I wouldn't live anywhere else.
Severe Weather Possible . . . .

Severe Weather Possible . . . .

There is a possibility of severe weather later today, but one would never know it now.  Other than feeling like an oven outdoors, and the humidity and dew points making it feels almost unbearable, a good thunderstorm would be welcome.  We did have some this morning, but for us, it was more thunder than rain.  There was only 0.07″ in my gauge after it passed.  Temperatures should be about 10 degrees cooler tomorrow. Our 1:45 PM temperature is 88°F (31°C),…

Heat Stroke Weather . . . .

Heat Stroke Weather . . . .

Anyone having to be outdoors today, should stay well hydrated and not be out anymore than necessary.  Not only are the temperatures going to be very hot, but the dew point and humidity will create a very high heat index.  A heat advisory, as well as a good chance for severe weather, have been issued by the Weather Service for tomorrow.  A few storms could develop today but a very slight chance. Our 1:45 PM temperature is 88°F (31°C), the…

Rain Added To Our Forecast . . . .

Rain Added To Our Forecast . . . .

What was supposed to be a dry period has now changed.  There is now a very slight chance of some thunderstorms developing late this afternoon.  Any storms that do happen will be few and far between, but the chance still remains.  Some could even be very strong.  Our sky is already beginning to cloud up a bit, and there was a sign that we could have had some light rain overnight.  There was  0.01″ in my gauge at 8 AM,…

Another Dry, Sunny Day Ahead . . . .

Another Dry, Sunny Day Ahead . . . .

We have another sunny morning, but it is much warmer than than the past three.  Today will begin a heat wave which will last into half of next week.  We could even see 90°F one more time.  There is still no rain in the forecast until next Thursday night and we are enjoying this dry period.  It’s been a chore keeping up with mowing the lawn. Our 9:45 AM temperature is 69°F (21°C), the humidity is 74%, and skies are…

Great Weather Continues . . . .

Great Weather Continues . . . .

This is the month when all the flower beds are in their peek.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t last too long before the first frost comes and destroys them.  But it is what it is, and soon the fall colors will appear.  I’m already seeing a little color happening in the field behind our house.  Maybe these chilly nights have been contributing to it.  We have a very warm weekend ahead of us, and hot weather will continue into next week. Our…

Loving This Cool Weather . . . .

Loving This Cool Weather . . . .

We have another comfortable day ahead of us.  Our last night’s lows were wonderful for sleeping with the window open, and tonight should be as well.  We should be able to enjoy this weather until the weekend, when highs will again reach into the upper 80s.  I’m hearing that this will be a cool autumn for our area.  I just hope it isn’t too cool.  The 60s and 70s would be fine with me.  I’ve been noticing how green everything…

Cool Temps Remain . . . .

Cool Temps Remain . . . .

We have yet another bright morning with very chilly temperatures.  Lows dipped into the 40s again overnight, and I had to turn the furnace on this morning for a brief time.  It will be a little warmer today, but highs will still remain much below average.  I still like this better than 90 degrees. Our 10:15 AM temperature is 63°F (17°C), the humidity is 84%, and skies are clear.  Winds are from the SE at 1-4 mph, and the pressure…

Much Cooler Today . . . .

Much Cooler Today . . . .

This will be short and sweet since I have to leave soon for a doctor’s appointment.  Today we welcome some much cooler and less humid weather.  We probably won’t even see 70°F today, and that’s okay. Our 1:30 PM temp is 67°F, the humidity is 59%, and skies are mostly cloudy. and winds are from the north at 10 – 20 mph.  The pressure is 30.19 in and steady, and visibility is 13 miles.  The high yesterday was 69°F and…

Hot And Humid Ends, At Least For Now . . . .

Hot And Humid Ends, At Least For Now . . . .

After scattered rain showers yesterday, today will be much cooler and brighter.  The rain has ended, and we should see a lot of sun for the next four days.  The entire weekend brought intermittent rain showers  , some quite heavy, and we received almost two inches of rain total.  There certainly hasn’t been a scarcity of rain this summer, and that has been great for the farmers. Our 9:30 AM temperature is 63°F (17°C), the humidity is 82%, and skies…

Yesterday brought us several heavy rain storms.  Total rainfall was almost an inch and a half.  There was a little T and L, but nothing even close to severe.  Today is expected to be much the same, although right now, the sun is peeking through a little.  There are a lot of dark clouds, but not much precip is showing on the radar at this time.  Temperatures will be comfortable, but the humidity will make it feel very sticky. Our…
