I have lived in Michigan all of my life and became very interested in the weather after the 1953 Flint tornado. This was one of the few EF5 tornadoes in our state's history (since records have been kept). Although we are not strangers to severe storms in Michigan, EF5 tornadoes are very rare. I live in an area where we rarely get a good thunderstorm, in fact, we haven't had one all summer. When I lived down by Detroit, they were frequent during the spring and summer months. I love experiencing the four seasons here in Michigan and I wouldn't live anywhere else.
More Cloudiness . . . .

More Cloudiness . . . .

We have another day with cloudy skies but no precipitation.  Highs will remain above average through Wednesday, then much cooler air moves in.  The winter holidays are just around the corner and I’m not ready for them yet.  I hate the thought of Christmas shopping, even though I do most online.  It seems to get harder every year. Our 1:15 PM temperature is 52°F, the humidity is 78%, and skies are mostly cloudy.  Winds are from the SW at 5-10…

Gloomy, Chilly Today . . . . .

Gloomy, Chilly Today . . . . .

Yesterday brought cloudy skies and a little drizzle.  Today is dry but dreary.  Winds are very light and our temperature is still above average, which is fine.  I thought that we might see a little sun today, but I guess not.  I’m already seeing some Christmas lights going up around the area.  That helps make these dark days a little brighter. Our 2:30 PM temperature is 48°F, the humidity is 70%, and winds are from the SE at 3-6 mph. …

Another Dark, Dismal Day . . . .

Another Dark, Dismal Day . . . .

After a rainy, drizzly day on Thursday, today is dry but no sun to be found.  This looks like a typical November Michigan day.  Temperatures are right where they should be tor this time of year, and it’s good for the deer hunters.  Rifle season started today and two neighbors are out hunting.  My husband doesn’t do it anymore, so we let a neighbor hunt on our land.  We have plenty of deer around here for sure. Our 12 noon…

A Rainy, Dark Morning . . . .

A Rainy, Dark Morning . . . .

Rain began last night and continued through the overnight.  There was 0.25″ in my gauge at 8:30 this morning.  It is still drizzling at this time and temps remain in the mid 40s.  I don’t think that we’ll see any sun today. Our 10:45 AM temperature is 45°F, the humidity is 96%, and skies are overcast.  Winds are from the SE at 4-8 mph, and the pressure is 29.62 in and steady.  The dew point is 43°F and visibility is…

Not A Bad November Day . . . . .

Not A Bad November Day . . . . .

Our morning was bright, but now the sky is mostly cloudy.  It’s a little breezy but temperatures are warmer than yesterday.  It’s not a bad day to get out and do something.  My outdoor furniture is still on the deck, and I hate to put it away as long as we keep getting these days of warm weather.  I think I’ll wait until we have snow in the forecast. Our 1:15 PM temperature is 50°F, the humidity is 47%, and…

Transitioning Weather . . . .

Transitioning Weather . . . .

Last night brought some storms to mid portions, and southern portions of the state.  There was even a brief tornado warning for Gratiot County but I haven’t heard of any damage.  Today is bringing falling temperatures and very windy conditions.  I don’t think we’ll see much sun today although it did manage to peek out a while ago.  It won’t be a good day to do anything outdoors. Our 12:45 PM temperature is 55°F, the humidity is 72%, and skies…

A Gloomy, Damp Sunday . . . .

A Gloomy, Damp Sunday . . . .

After getting almost half an inch of overnight rain, our Sunday is a bit mild but no sun.  I have my doubts that the high temp today will reach 60°F but at least the rain has ended for now.  There is no more rain in our forecast until Wednesday. Our 1:45 PM temperature is 53°F (12°C), the humidity is 94%, and winds are from the south at 4-7 mph.  The wind chill is 51°F (11°C).  The pressure is 29.55 in…

Our sunny Saturday has become cloudy.. . . . .

Our morning was sunny with frost, but now our skies are overcast.  There is rain in our forecast for overnight, but nothing on radar near us at this time.  Temperatures are right where they should be for this date and no extreme warmups expected anytime soon.  We knew this was coming. Our 3:15 PM temperature is 55°F, the humidity is 59%, and winds are from the SE at 3-5 mph.  The dew point is 37°F and the wind chill is…

Bright But Chilly . . . .

Bright But Chilly . . . .

It’s a nice bright November day and our temperatures, although chilly, are still above average.  It looks like it will remain this way for at least another week.  My husband is still mowing the lawn, something that we are usually finished with by now.  Conditions are still abnormally dry although not at drought stage at this time. Our 3 PM temperature is 58°F (14°C), the humidity is 59%, and skies are clear.  Winds are from the NW at 13-22 mph,…

Today is quite nice with pretty of sun and continued above-average temperatures.  We had a little rain yesterday which lasted into the overnight, but only dropped 0.02″ of rain.  Our next chance for rain is Saturday night.
