I have lived in Michigan all of my life and became very interested in the weather after the 1953 Flint tornado. This was one of the few EF5 tornadoes in our state's history (since records have been kept). Although we are not strangers to severe storms in Michigan, EF5 tornadoes are very rare. I live in an area where we rarely get a good thunderstorm, in fact, we haven't had one all summer. When I lived down by Detroit, they were frequent during the spring and summer months. I love experiencing the four seasons here in Michigan and I wouldn't live anywhere else.
Rain, Clouds To Begin Our Day . . . .

Rain, Clouds To Begin Our Day . . . .

As Florida is preparing for the impact of yet another hurricane, we in Michigan are looking forward to another week of great weather.  Yesterday was a bit stormy with even a few tornado warnings down by the state line.  But none materialized although I think there were a few in Ohio and Indiana.  Most of Florida is under a emergency declaration although the site of impact for the storm seems to be along the Gulf Coast somewhere.  Nothing is for…

A Little Rain, And More On The Way . . . . .

A Little Rain, And More On The Way . . . . .

We had a little more rain overnight, and so far, today has been dry.  Radar is showing a large mass of rain to our west, but I’m not sure that it will move our way.  Most of the rain seems to be moving in a northerly direction.  Highs today will be near the normal range and most of this week will see highs in the 70s.  That’s perfect! Our 2:15 PM temperature is 72°F (22°C), the humidity is 73%, and…

Finally Some Rain . . .

Finally Some Rain . . .

We finally got a good rainstorm yesterday afternoon.  There was  0.68″ in my gauge this morning, and our sky looks like we could get more.  The radar looks clear for now.  Temperatures are considerably cooler than what we have had and I’m happy about that.  The picture above shows the latest outlook for winter. from NOAA.   If this holds true, it looks like we’ll have another mild winter.  The weather is always changing, so this projection could also change…

A Little Rain For Our Sunday . . .

A Little Rain For Our Sunday . . .

We have rain on the way but it’s taking it’s good old time getting here.  We had a few sprinkles earlier, but the bulk of it is still to our west.  After today, we will finally have a significant cool down, and I hope that this abnormally warm weather is finished for the year.  Highs in the mid to upper 80s for September is ridiculous. Our 2:15 PM temperature is 79°F (26°C), the humidity is 59%, and skies are overcast. …

Foggy Morning, Now Clear Skies . . . .

Foggy Morning, Now Clear Skies . . . .

At 8:30 this morning, it was very foggy and visibility was less than half a mile.  Now the skies have cleared up with not a cloud in the sky.  Temperatures will rise into the 80s again.  Yesterday brought some rain to a small portion of the state, and we even had a few sprinkles here in the afternoon.  Today is expected to be dry but showers are in the forecast for tomorrow.  We sure could use the rain. Our 1…

Clouds And Sun To Start Our Day . . . .

Clouds And Sun To Start Our Day . . . .

Our morning was cloudy, but now there are breaks in the clouds and  the sun is shining.  We could see some rain later on and I hope it happens.  Whatever rain does come won’t do much to cool it off, with highs today still expected to reach the mid 80s.  This weather in unbelievable.  I think that Mother Nature thinks it is still August. Our 1:45 PM temperature is 78°F (26°C), the humidity is 73%, and winds are from the…

Still Dry . . .

Still Dry . . .

We may see some rain tomorrow, but only a slight chance.  We could see a little rain this weekend and into next week.  I’m seeing some severe weather on the forecast map which is moving our way, but we’ll have to keep an eye on that one.  As for today, it looks like it will be another winner. Our 12:30 PM temperature is 78°F (26°C), the humidity is 54%, and skies are mostly clear.  Winds are from the NE at…

Another Warm, Dry Day . . . . .

Another Warm, Dry Day . . . . .

e We haven’t had any rain now in almost 2 weeks and it’s getting very dry.  Also, there is none in the forecast anytime soon.  This is the type of weather that we usually get in mid summer, not in the fall.  Our seasons seem to be flip flopping a bit.  Our temperatures continue to be much about average, and this is expected to continue until the end of the month.  At least the lawn has finally stopped growing. Our…

Dry And Sunny Continues . . .

Dry And Sunny Continues . . .

Today will be almost the same as the past week.  There is no mention of any rain until possibly next Sunday night.  So our summer weather will continue a bit longer.  Any complaints?  I don’t think so. Our 10:30 AM temperature is 66°F, the humidity is 78%, and skies are clear.  Winds are from the E at 1-3 mph, and the pressure is 29.97 in and steady.  The dew point is 58°F and visibility is 10 miles.  Yesterday’s high was…

No Changes In Our Weather . . . . .

No Changes In Our Weather . . . . .

We have had strong high pressure over us now for over a week, and it doesn’t show any signs of leaving anytime soon.  I’m not seeing any rain in the forecast well into next weekend.  I’m having to water my flowers for the first time this summer.  How unusual that is. Our 1PM temperature is 81°F (27°C), the humidity is 49%, and skies are clear.  Winds are from the E at 1- 5 mph, and the pressure is 30.04 in…
