Cool And Sunny . . . .

Cool And Sunny . . . .

After the heavy rain, and even a tornado, our Tuesday afternoon was quite nice although very chilly.  Our high temp struggled to reach 70°F in the afternoon.  We received a total of 1.39″ of rain, which finally ended around noon.  The tornado occurred in southern Michigan, near Three Rivers, and was estimated to be an EF0.  That was a bit unexpected as no severe storms were expected yesterday.  Today begins an extended period of dry weather, and there is no…

Stormy And Cool . . . .

Stormy And Cool . . . .

Our morning is starting out with moderate to heavy rain, and even a tornado watch in the southern part of the state.  There have been no reports of any actual tornadoes so far, and we hope that it stays that way.  Heavy rain is in our forecast for today, and there was already 0.27″ in my gauge at 8:30. We have to go shopping today, and we’re just waiting for some of this rain to move on.  I think it…

This will be our last very warm day for a while.  Highs should reach the upper 80s this afternoon, before thunderstorms develop ahead of a welcome cold front.  The chance for rain will remain until Wednesday, and then it should remain dry right into next weekend.  Highs will stay in the 70s, and I’m really liking that.  The long term forecast called for our July to be hot and dry.  The hot happened but not the dry. Our 9:45 AM…

Still Hot In Mid Michigan . . . . .

Still Hot In Mid Michigan . . . . .

We have the home stretch of our hot temps today and tomorrow.  Highs next week are expected to only reach into the 70s.  I’m ready for it.   With all the rain that we’ve had lately, the mosquitoes are getting bad.  Between those and the hot temperatures, being outdoors isn’t pleasant.  I think I’m ready for fall.  It’s my favorite season anyway. Our 10:15 AM temperature is 76F, the humidity is 79%, and skies are clear.  Winds are from the north…

Rain Brought Cooler Temps . . . .

Rain Brought Cooler Temps . . . .

We received a good dousing of rain last night which left 0.55″ in my rain gauge.  This morning is mostly cloudy but no more showers have happened.  Rain remains in our forecast, but nothing much is showing on radar at this time.  Temperatures will be a little cooler today but it won’t last long.  Another blast of hot air will be with us for the weekend.  Then we can look forward to more comfortable temps next week. Our 11 AM…

Very Warm And Humid, Storms On The Way . . . .

Very Warm And Humid, Storms On The Way . . . .

Today has been very warm since this morning, and there is no relief from the heat until Monday.  Meanwhile, we can expect some hefty storms tonight and tomorrow.  Some could drop some pretty impressive rain amounts according to local meteorologist, Mark Torregrossa with M Live.  We have had partly cloudy skies and plenty of sun up until now, but some dark clouds are beginning to move in.  Radar is showing rain coming off of Lake Michigan into the Grand Rapids…

Sunny But Too Warm . . . .

Sunny But Too Warm . . . .

We had clear skies this morning, but now a thin cloud cover has taken over.  There is a slight chance of some storms developing later and highs could reach 90 degrees.  This weather pattern will continue until the middle of next week when a cold front is expected to arrive.  We should then have much more comfortable temperatures. Our 1 PM temperature is 85°F (29°C), the humidity is 66%, and winds are from the S at 2-7 mph.  The pressure…

Partly Cloudy And Very Warm . . . .

Partly Cloudy And Very Warm . . . .

Yesterday was very uncomfortable with highs reaching the mid  80s and very humid.  Today will see more clouds with some sun, which is starting to show itself.  Rain began late yesterday, and continued overnight.  We only received     0.42″ of rain, but other areas got well over an inch.  There were a few severe storm warnings issued, and even a tornado warning.  I haven’t heard any damage reports however. Our 1:30 PM temperature is 80°F (27°C), the humidity is 74%, and…

Rain For Our Monday . . . .

Rain For Our Monday . . . .

Our morning is cloudy and rain in popping up on the radar.  Most seems to be moving due north, and I’m expecting to feel a few drops very soon.  We could see rain almost everyday this week and it will be hot and muggy.  The dog days of summer are  upon us. Our 10:15 AM temperature is 77°F (25°C), the humidity is 84%, and winds are from the SW at 3-6 mph.  The pressure is 29.78 in (1008.5 mb) and…

A Perfect Saturday . . . .

A Perfect Saturday . . . .

We have very few days that are considered to be perfect, in terms of weather, but yesterday was it.  My kids were all home for my husband’s birthday, and most of the day was spent outdoors.  It was just too nice to be inside.  Today started out the same way, but it will be much warmer, and uncomfortable to be out doing anything.  We can expect the heat to remain this entire week, with a chance of rain almost everyday….
