Cloudy And Much Cooler . . . . .

Cloudy And Much Cooler . . . . .

After temperatures reaching into the low 80s yesterday, today is much cooler and no sun so far.  We had a weather statement yesterday afternoon saying that a strong thunderstorm was heading our way, with pea sized hail and 40 mph winds.  All we got was some thunder and a few drops of rain.  I think most of it went to our north, and diminished a bit as it traveled east.  Today is cloudy and looks like rain but nothing so…

Warm And Windy . . . .

Warm And Windy . . . .

Our morning began with clear skies and a bit breezy.  We did get some rain overnight and my weather station is showing some lightning strikes, although I slept through it.  We could get more storms today but nothing severe is expected. Our sky is still mostly clear and temperatures have risen to  80°F.  We have some cumulus clouds appearing in the west so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few storms pop up.  Our 2 PM humidity is 41%…

A Beautiful Mother’s Day . . . .

A Beautiful Mother’s Day . . . .

The weather couldn’t be any nicer.  Skies are almost clear with light breezes, and temperatures will be comfortable.  My kids were all home and we went to church, then out for brunch around noon.  Just going to take it easy the remaining day. Our 3 PM temperature is 71°F, the humidity is 40%, and winds are from the SW at 6-10 mph.  Skies are mostly clear with just a few thin clouds.  The dew point is 38% and the pressure…

Nothern Lights . . . .

Nothern Lights . . . .

Last night’s northern lights have been the talk this morning.  Some areas saw them better than others, but they filled most of the sky.  There wasn’t much color to what we saw, but they showed up much better on my son’s photos than what we saw with the naked eye.   Clouds moved in and we did have overnight rain.  There was 0.18 in in my gauge this morning. Our 12:15 temperature is 50°F, the humidity is 91%, and winds are…

Cloudy And Cool . . . .

Cloudy And Cool . . . .

There is rain approaching from the south, so looks like we may get a little wet today.  We could actually use about a month with no rain.  Our back property hasn’t dried out in almost a year.  It makes mowing a big problem. Our 1:15 PM temperature is 60°F, the humidity is 65%, and winds are from the east at 4-10 mph.  The pressure is 29.82 in and steady.  The dew point is 41°F and visibility is 14 miles.  Yesterday’s…

Tornadoes, Windy Weather . . . . .

Tornadoes, Windy Weather . . . . .

I heard that there were seven tornadoes late yesterday which struck the southwest corner of our state.   There was only supposed to be a very slight chance of severe weather, and even a lesser chance for tornadoes.  Portage, MI got the worst of it, but there was damage in other areas as well.  The watches and warnings didn’t come up as far as my county but Lansing was included.  I always enjoy a good thunderstorm, but not when they bring…

Thunderstorms Possible . . . .

Thunderstorms Possible . . . .

Today could be another stormy one for parts of the country, including us.  It does appear that the storms should diminish in strength as they head our way.  Hopefully that will happen.  Tornadoes made a mess in areas of Oklahoma and Texas over the past several days and there seems to be no end in sight.  The weather service predicted that this would be a stormy spring, and so far they have been right. Our morning is starting out with…

Another Chilly May Day . . . .

Another Chilly May Day . . . .

Looking at the national weather map, it appears that the storm chasers won’t be bored today.  Unfortunately, these storms seem to keep attacking the same areas almost everyday.  Plus now many of the affected areas are dealing with flooding as well.  One YouTube forecaster said that grapefruit size hail will be possible with some of these storms.  I sure hope that the livestock in these areas have somewhere to go for shelter.  As for us, we’re supposed to see some…

Cloudy And Mild . . . . .

Cloudy And Mild . . . . .

We had a very mild night and it was great sleeping.  Today, however, won’t warm up much with highs only in the low 70s expected.  I finally got my hummingbird feeder out.  I’m a little late this year and I’ll see how long it takes them to notice it.  We had a few sprinkles of rain yesterday, but not enough to measure.  We aren’t expecting much sun today, but no rain either. Our 1:15 PM temperature is 64°F (18°C), the…

A Little Overnight Thunder . . . .

A Little Overnight Thunder . . . .

Yesterday was quite nice, but what began as sunny, became overcast as the day wore on.  Some rain developed overnight, and there were a few thundershowers included.  There was  0.31″ of rain in my gauge this morning, and the rain continued for a few more hours after that.  Now the sun is shining with a few breaks in the clouds.  Radar is showing the rain to be past us for now, but with the sun out, I think a few…
