Intermittent Lake Effect Snow Squalls For Our Saturday – Mid Michigan

Intermittent Lake Effect Snow Squalls For Our Saturday – Mid Michigan

Today really feels like winter.  We are having off and on snow squalls which only last a few minutes,  but are heavy enough to affect visibility for those out driving.  We aren’t going to see much warming today and we have about half an inch of snow cover.  The biggest issue is the wind.  Our wind chill is in the single digits and temps won’t even come close to the freezing mark.   Right now, the sky has some breaks in…

A Cloudy, Windy, Miserable Day In Mid Michigan

A Cloudy, Windy, Miserable Day In Mid Michigan

We don’t have a very nice St. Paddy’s day here in Michigan.  Temperatures have been dropping since early this morning, and we are seeing light snow flurries.  The winds are brutal and it is not a nice day to be outdoors, for sure.  On the positive side, this cold spell will only last a few days, then a nice warmup once again.  We all know how bipolar Mother Nature is, so we just have to grin and bear it.  At…

Rain Moving In For This Afternoon And Tonight – Mid Michigan

Rain Moving In For This Afternoon And Tonight – Mid Michigan

We are expecting a good amount of rain for later today, tonight, and part of tomorrow.  I’m hoping that it will be warm enough to finally melt the large patch of ice that we have in our front yard.  Some has melted when the sun hits it, but that’s not too often.  Then the weather will turn cold again and snow is in the forecast for this weekend.  This is supposed to be spring and it seemed more like spring…

A Beautiful Day Ahead For Mid Michigan

A Beautiful Day Ahead For Mid Michigan

It warmed up enough yesterday to melt most of our snow.  We still have a few icy patches where the sun doesn’t shine, but the snow is gone.  We are expecting highs in the 50s the next few days and rain.  I’m hoping that it will finally melt these icy spots.  Our sky is clear and the humidity is very low, so it’ll be a great day for getting outdoors for a walk or whatever. Our 12:45 PM temperature is…

Sunny And A Little Warmer For Mid Michigan

Sunny And A Little Warmer For Mid Michigan

We had light snow showers all day on Monday but not much in accumulations.  Much of it melted but I estimate that we have about 1-2 inches of snow cover at this time.  Today will be a bit brighter and hopefully, we’ll lose much of the snow.  This is the time of year when we are supposed to see rising temps, and if anything, we’re getting our February weather now.  I knew this was going to happen.  The weather always…

More Snow For Mid Michigan

More Snow For Mid Michigan

I wasn’t expecting this much snow overnight, but regardless, here it is.  We had 1.3 inches at 8:30 this morning, and I know we’ve gotten another inch since then.  Light snow continues at this time.  We are suppose to have temps back in the 40s by the end of this week, so I know that this won’t last long. Our 12:30 PM temperature is 31°F (-1°C), the humidity is 85%, and skies are cloudy with light snow.  Winds are from…

A Little More Snow For Mid Michigan

A Little More Snow For Mid Michigan

We woke to another half inch of snow this morning, but now most has melted.  I don’t think that we’ll see temps much over the freezing mark today, so our ice pack remains.  I’ve referred to it as our “glacier” because it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.  We need a day where the temp reaches 70 degrees . . . . . just one.  I don’t think that it will be happening anytime soon, however. Our 4:15 PM temperature…

The Sun Has Returned – Mid Michigan

The Sun Has Returned – Mid Michigan

To look outdoors today, no one would know that we had 3 inches a few days ago.  All of that snow is now gone and the sun is working on the partial ice cover that we still have from our past ice storm.  It isn’t quite warm enough to totally get rid of it, but it is melting little by little.  It’s actually quite nice outdoors although there is a bit of a breeze, making it feel chilly.  I’m not…

More Snow For Mid Michigan

More Snow For Mid Michigan

The snow began close to midnight and continued all night.  We woke to a white landscape this morning with about 3 inches of new snow.  It has been snowing since then but mainly just flurries.  A winter weather advisory is in effect until 4 PM.  Three to six inches of snow is what was predicted for my area and I don’t think that we’ll get much more than what we have right now.  It is warm enough that it has…

Another Snowy Weather System For Tomorrow – Mid Michigan

Another Snowy Weather System For Tomorrow – Mid Michigan

This is the third weekend where a snowy weather system is about to drop 3-6 inches of snow on us.  This is getting to be a habit, one that we are getting tired of.  We still have some ice patches that haven’t melted yet from the ice storm 4 weeks ago.  Ice melts much slower than snow, and it remains in areas that don’t get much sun.  Now tomorrow we’ll be shoveling again.  Since our January and February were so…
