We still have about 2 inches of snow pack remaining, and it had a light layer of ice over it this morning. After a very chilly Friday, our weather has taken a welcome turn for the better. Temps were on the rise all day yesterday, but strong winds made it quite uncomfortable. Yesterday was very cold and the wind chill made it worse. Temperatures were at their lowest just before midnight, then they began to rise shortly after and continued all night. We will see this continue all day with our high for the day happening around sunset. The remainder of the week will see temps rising to above average once again, and I hope that they remain there for a while. I just hope that this warmup doesn’t bring severe weather…

Although the PA groundhog, Phil, is predicting more winter ahead, NOAA is saying something else. My picture shows NOAA’s recent temperature predictions for almost half of February and it is showing a significant warmup for the eastern half of the US. So who will be right? Science or rodent? We have sun this morning but very cold temperatures. Our temp was -5°F this morning at 8:30AM, and highs today won’t make it out of the teens. This is the price we pay for lack of cloud cover. We have had snow now for the past 3 days, and with it came very cold temperatures. Highs will only reach the lower 20s today and the teens tomorrow. We have another round of snow coming our way for tonight. Our area is expecting 3-5 inches. Yesterday brought intermittent snow showers but we only received about an inch of new snow. Winds were quite strong and it seemed at times to be snowing harder than it really was.
