Mid Michigan Weather

A strong storm system is setting up in the south with severe storms and tornadoes expected.  Fortunately for us, all we’re expecting is rain and strong winds.  Local forecasters are warning of possible 45 mph gusts.  Right now it is quiet and most isn’t expected until tonight and tomorrow.  We have several cold fronts heading our way preempted by fairly warm temps and this will continue into next week.  No stability is expected until mid to late December.  It’s too…

It is a rather yucky day and I expect that it will be raining most of it.  Temperatures are right around where they should be for this date, and winds are light.  Looks like we’ll be stuck indoors today so maybe I’ll watch corny Christmas movies or something. Our day began with clouds but fairly mild temperatures.  The radar overnight appeared to show rain passing over my area, but there was no sign of any this morning.  The air must have been too dry.  But now the sky has cleared and temps are still quite mild.  There is still the chance for rain over the weekend but, like last night, it may not happen. Our skies cleared yesterday and we lost most of our snow.  This morning was frosty but temperatures are expected to rise into the mid 40s this afternoon.  This will continue through Thanksgiving day, but then rain is expected by Thursday night and the following 3 days.  At least the temps won’t be so cold.  This is much too early for this kind of weather although it isn’t unprecedented.  Regardless, this shouldn’t be happening in my opinion.  I really shouldn’t complain…

After a cloudy morning, the sun finally came out and skies are perfectly clear now.  Unfortunately, with it came very brisk winds.   Our total snow over the past 3 days was around 5 inches for my area, much better than what the western side of the state got.  There is a graph below which shows  the highest snow amounts from this storm in our state.  The next few days will be very nice, but I’m already hearing of another storm…

This is our 4th day with snow and below average temperatures.  We have about 2 inches of snow cover with some ice.  We would have a lot more except there was quite a bit of thawing in spite of the cold temperatures.  Today should be the end of it with some warming over the next several days.  Thursday will be the warmest, and that is good considering that my husband plans on cooking the turkey outdoors.  We have to make…

We didn’t get the massive snow amounts that other areas did, but today will be miserable none the less.  We had lake effect snow showers for the past two days, but the ground is warm enough that much of it melted.  We do have about 2 inches of snow cover and ice where it melted and refroze.  The big issues today are the temperatures and wind.  Highs won’t even reach the freezing mark and wind chills are brutal.  I guess…
