Extreme Dry Weather Results In Michigan Wildfire

Wildfires are inevitable when we have no rain for an extended period.  That’s what happened yesterday in Grayling.  Fire burned 2400 acres and the last I heard, it was 85% contained.  I-75 was closed for most of yesterday but it is open now.  All evacuations have also been cancelled.  The fire is located just to the SE of the town of Grayling in northern lower Michigan.  No cause of the fire has been determined.

As for us, today is giving us relief from the heat.  Highs are only expected to reach the upper 70s to near 80°F.  That’s my kind of weather.

Our 3 PM temperature is 80°F, the humidity is 20%, and skies are clear.  Winds are from the NE at 3-10 mph, and the dew point is 20°F.  The pressure is 29.97 in and falling.  Yesterday’s high was 89°F and the overnight low was 49°F.  Average temps for this date are 75°F/53°F.  Sunrise was at 6 AM and sunset will be at 9:12 PM.

DURAND / OWOSSO FORECAST:

Today:  Sunny.  High 80°F.  Winds ENE at 10-15 mph.

Tonight:  Partly cloudy, becoming mostly cloudy overnight.  Low 51°F.  Winds ESE at 5-10 mph.

Monday:  Partly cloudy.  Patchy smoke/haze from wildfire in northern Michigan.  High 82°F.  Winds WNW at 5-10 mph.
