Air Quality Alert Remains In Effect – Mid Michigan
Our air continues to be ripe with smoke and I’m feeling it. My throat is scratchy and I’m coughing. I thought I was getting a cold but I don’t think so. The air quality is supposed to improve as the day goes on, but for today, we’re stuck indoors. The AQA ends tonight at midnight. This is such a waste of a summer day, when it’s dangerous to be outdoors. My husband went to the store yesterday afternoon and said that there was hardly anyone there. It appears that we’re going to be dealing with this all summer unless Canada gets some heavy rains soon. How likely is that?
Our 11:45 AM temperature is 73°F (23°C), the humidity is 59%, and the dew point is 62°F (17°C). Winds are from the NNW at 1-4 mph, and visibility is only 4 miles. The pressure is 30.10 in (1019.3 mb) and steady. Skies are hazy but partly cloudy. The Air Quality Index is unhealthy at 180. The UV Index is very high at 9. Yesterday’s high was 71°F (22°C) and the overnight low was 52°F (11°C). Sunrise was at 6 AM and sunset will be at 9:20 PM.
