Our First Significant Snowfall of the Season – Mid Michigan

Although my area only received about 1.5 – 2 inches of new snow, counties to our south received as much as 6 inches.  Snow continues to be in the forecast but no significant accumulations are expected.  It will be just enough to keep the roads slippery.  For some reason, I didn’t see any salt trucks out yesterday, maybe because it was the weekend, so hopefully the roads will be better today.

Our 9:30 AM EST temperature is 17.2°F (-8°C), the humidity is 63%, and skies are partly cloudy.  Winds are from the NW at 10 mph, gusting to 16 mph.  The wind chill is 4°F (-16°C).  Visibility is 10 miles.  The pressure is 29.86 in (1010.5 mb) and rising.  Sunrise was at 8:00 AM and sunset will be at 5:03 PM.  Yesterday’s high was 29°F (-2°C) and the overnight low was 16°F (-7°C).  Averages for this date are 35°F / 22°F.  The record high for Dec. 11 is 62°F (17°C) set in 1911, and the record low is -4°F (-20°C) set in 1962.
