I listened to our weather forecast on the 11 PM news last night, and there was a large mass of rain showing on radar over Wisconsin.  It appeared to me that it was heading in our direction, but the meteorologist said that it would move to the north and my area would get very little if any of it.  Wrong!  About 3AM, I got an alert from Storm Shield that a strong thunderstorm was heading our way, then I dozed off.  About 4 AM, I woke to the sound of thunder and heard rain pounding against my window.  Once again, I fell back to sleep.  When I got up this morning, I checked my rain gauge and there was just under half an inch of rain in it.  Also my rain gauge was tipped a bit so I knew that there had to be strong winds to do that.  I’m not complaining about the rain because we needed it.  It is very hot out and the humidity and dew points are way up in the uncomfortable zone.  But these storms certainly did not follow the directions of local meteorologists.  The chance for more storms continues for the next few day.
