I had to go to the ER last night. After feeling crappy all day, I was suddenly so weak that I couldn’t get out of my chair. My husband called the ambulance and I was diagnosed with Covid. Temperatures are quite warm today and skies are cloudy. We had a few sprinkles of rain yesterday and there were a few showers which appeared on the radar map, but they were few and far between. After an almost perfect day yesterday, today brings much of the same. Highs should reach near 8oF, but the humidity and dew point is low, so it will be very comfortable. After the past week of 90 degree temperatures, today is literally a breath of fresh air. Temps will only make it into the upper 70s with gentle breezes. Thunderstorms began around midnight here, and they brought much needed rainfall. We were under a severe thunderstorm warning, and the rain brought some very strong winds when they arrived, but I don’t see any damage near us. I’m seeing some areas of the state received well over 2 inches of rain, and we had 0.83″ as of this morning. It was still sprinkling a little when I first went out, but that soon ended. There were a few drops of rain in my gauge this morning, and also lightning strikes showing on my weather station. I wasn’t aware of any rain in my area overnight but I guess it happened. The weather service is showing us to be in a slight to enhanced risk area for severe storms today. This is our third consecutive day of 90 degree weather. At least the humidity and dew points are quite low. I’m hearing that we are in for an extended stretch of record-breaking heat which will affect the plain states as well as the northeastern portions of the country. My first thought is that I hope nothing happens to our AC unit, or that we have none of those rolling blackouts that we have heard about. This will be no time to lose our power.
