Cloudy But Very Warm in Mid Michigan

Cloudy But Very Warm in Mid Michigan

Our day has been dry so far, but radar is showing rain slowly heading our way from the southwest.  We aren’t expecting any great amounts but enough to keep the ground moist.  It’s nice not having to water everything everyday. Our 5:30 PM temperature is 81°F, the humidity is 72%, and skies are cloudy.  Winds are from the east at 0-3 mph, and the dew point is 67°F.  The pressure is 29.75 in and falling.  Yesterday’s high was 80°F and…

Rain Moving in From The West – Mid Michigan

Rain Moving in From The West – Mid Michigan

Originally, we didn’t have rain in our forecast.  Now that has changed  We see a large area of rain coming at us from Lake Michigan, and although not heavy, it doesn’t seem to be diminishing either.  This has changed even from this morning.  That’s okay, we can use more rain.  Yesterday was perfect with highs only in the upper 70s.  Today will be a little warmer, but still not too bad.  Also, I thing the temps will cool after the…

Another Beautiful Day In Mid Michigan

Another Beautiful Day In Mid Michigan

Temperatures today are perfect and the humidity is decent.  This has been quite unusual for Michigan in the summer.  Normally by this time, the humidity is very high almost everyday.  This year it has been quite comfortable, and we haven’t even needed the AC that much.  Even with all the rain that we had a few days ago, the lawn is still a bit parched, but not growing nearly as fast.  We have about 2 acres that we mow, so…

A Little More Overnight Rain in Mid Michigan

A Little More Overnight Rain in Mid Michigan

After a mostly cloudy Monday, we did receive a little rain during the overnight.  There was 0.14″ in my gauge this morning, and I’m seeing some showers on the radar.  One just missed us and there are no more forming to our west at this time.  Today will be cooler with highs only expected in the mid 70s.  That’s perfect.  The humidity is low so it should be comfortable. Our 1:45 PM temperature is 72°F, the humidity is 71%, and…

A Great Lightning Show In Mid Michigan

A Great Lightning Show In Mid Michigan

I know that I often complain that all the big storms miss us.  Well, that wasn’t the case last night.  We had two powerful storms move over us late last night about an hour apart.  The first  dropped 0.74″ of rain, and the second 0.28″.  I’m amazed that most areas didn’t get as much rain as we did, but the lightning was impressive with over 1000 lightning strikes showing on my weather station.  There is even a report of an…

Warm And Pleasant Before The Storms – Mid Michigan

Warm And Pleasant Before The Storms – Mid Michigan

This afternoon is very warm and quite windy.  We have a pretty good chance for some afternoon or evening thunderstorms to develop and some could be heavy.  We are in the “slight chance” area for any severe weather to develop and that’s fine.  A good thunderstorm or shower would be nice.  Everything is burning up and everyone’s grass is brown.   Our morning was sunny, but now clouds have taken over our skies.  I’m seeing some showers  showing up on radar…

A Week Of Great Weather For Mid Michigan

A Week Of Great Weather For Mid Michigan

Yesterday’s weather was perfect with highs in the upper 70s and a nice breeze.  Skies were clear all day.  We do need rain and it has been pretty sparse lately.  Any rain in our forecast isn’t expected to be much and that isn’t good for the farmers.  We’ll be cooking out today and that’s always a good thing with nice weather. Our 11:45 AM temp is 75°F, the humidity is 46%, and skies are clear.  Winds are from the SSW…

Cloudy, Cooler, and Some Storms To Our South – Mid Michigan

Cloudy, Cooler, and Some Storms To Our South – Mid Michigan

A steady line of storms has developed just to our south but they are moving to the ESE, so totally missing my area at this time.  Our forecast called for a very slight chance of rain, but I’m seeing more rain developing to our west.  We have to have a new roof on our house, and the material was delivered yesterday.  I’m not sure if rain will damage any of it, especially the plywood sheets.   I think it will be…

Cloudy And A Little Cooler In Mid Michigan

Cloudy And A Little Cooler In Mid Michigan

Today began with a few drops of rain but not enough to even measure.  Southern Michigan got hammered with heavy thunderstorms, measuring well over an inch in many places.  A line of heavy, severe storms moved to the southeast, from Wisconsin, through Illinois and Ohio, and just brushed the southern counties of Michigan.  I was hoping that we’d get a little more rain, but it was not to be.  Highs today only reached the 70s and we didn’t see much…

Firecrackers, Fireworks Over For Another Year – Mid Michigan

Firecrackers, Fireworks Over For Another Year – Mid Michigan

After some overnight, much needed rain, our Tuesday is cloudy and very humid.  We received 0.42″ overnight with a little thunder and lightning.  Skies are expected to clear later and highs should make it into the mid 80s this afternoon.  The next few days are expected to be a bit cooler and that makes me happy.  All the big cities near us had their 4th of July fireworks last night, and most were covered by TV stations.  They were spectacular…
