A Terrible Weather Day . . . .

A Terrible Weather Day . . . .

We began our day with thunder and  moderate to heavy rain.  This is going to be an eye to the sky day as severe weather is knocking on our door once again.  People up north are in a desperate situation as 1.5″ of ice covers everything, and many tree branches are snapping.  Our governor has finally sent in the national guard to help rescue those trapped in their homes.  95% of northern Michigan is still without power.  Many pictures are available on YouTube of the damage there.  It’s unbelievable.  As for us, we are in the area of increased possibility of severe storms and tornadoes late today.  There were 9 confirmed tornadoes from Sunday, and what happens today will depend on our temperatures.  Highs are expected to reach the low 60s briefly this afternoon which would fuel these storms.  Hopefully it doesn’t happen.

Our 11:45 AM temperature is 34°F, the humidity is 99%, and skies are overcast with light rain.  Winds are from the ESE at 9-12 mph, and the pressure is 29.82 in and falling.  Visibility is 2 miles and the dew point is 32°F.  Yesterday’s high was 43°F and the overnight low was 32°F.  Average temps for this date are 51°F/31°F.  Sunrise was at 7:17 AM and sunset will be at 8:04 PM.
