It Finally Feels Like Spring . . . .

It Finally Feels Like Spring . . . .

On this last day of winter, we have  a sunny afternoon and mild temperatures.  This should remain through the weekend before the next blast of cold air comes.  Hopefully, it will arrive without unfavorable events.  Our morning was cloudy but no precipitation.  Yesterday saw a few snow flurries from time to time, but hardly noticeable. Our 5:45 PM temperature is 50°F, the humidity is 46%, and skies are partly cloudy.  Winds are from the NW at 2-5 mph, and the…

A Very Cold St Patrick’s Day . . . . .

A Very Cold St Patrick’s Day . . . . .

I’ve heard that this is the coldest St. Patty’s day that we’ve had in 50 years.  Our Upper Peninsula is digging out from the blizzard and some areas have 5 ft of snow pack.  As for us, temperatures are way below average but at least the wind has calmed down.  Once in a while we have some lake effect snow flurries which make it this far from Lake Michigan.  Even the sun peeks out once in a while.  There is…

More Stormy Weather . . .

More Stormy Weather . . .

It is expected to be quite a stormy day throughout the nation.  The northern states have blizzard conditions while the south could see a tornadic outbreak later today.  Here, where I am, we are just expecting strong winds and a little rain.  The severe weather is expected to remain south of us although we could get some strong thunderstorms tonight. Our 4 PM temperature is 51°F, the humidity is 74%, and winds are from the ESE at 5-13  mph, and…

Nasty Weather On The Way . . . .

Nasty Weather On The Way . . . .

Yesterday was very blustery, and we can expect more of the same tomorrow.  We could also see some snow or freezing rain early, then temps will rise into the 60s.  That sounds like more tornado weather to me.  Our weather lately has been really weird with it going from one extreme to another.  I hope that it settles down soon. Our 3:15 PM temperature is 38°F, the humidity is 39%, and skies are partly cloudy.  Winds are calm.  The pressure…

Windy And Wet . . . .

Windy And Wet . . . .

This is the type of day that you are happy if you don’t have to go anywhere.  It is cold, very windy, and rainy.  We are under a high wind warning, giving us a very uncomfortable wind chill.  We could get some measurable snow over the next few days although it won’t last.  There was about an inch on my deck this morning but it melted right away. Our 5:15 PM temperature is 36°F, the humidity is 88%, and winds…

More Snow In The Forecast . . . .

More Snow In The Forecast . . . .

Temperatures have cooled off considerably, and we are now expecting high winds and more snow.  Yesterday was very wet and some flooding .  There was a lot of standing water on roads and in fields, and the next few day will not be pleasant for us. Our 2:15 PM temperature is 40°F, the humidity is 40%, and skies are mostly cloudy.  Winds are from the west at 2-13 mph, and the pressure is 29.97 in and falling.  The dew point…

More Storms On The Way . . . .

More Storms On The Way . . . .

Once again, we are at risk for some pretty hefty storms tonight.  The north portions of our state could get freezing rain.  Right now it is quiet and there has been no rain so far.  We have to travel to Lansing early tomorrow morning, so I’m hoping that it isn’t storming at that time. Our 3 PM temperature is 47°F, the humidity is 84% and winds are from the NNE at 2-7 mph.  The pressure is 29.82 in and rising. …

Another Warm Day . . . .

Another Warm Day . . . .

What a great day this has been.  We’ve had clear skies and highs reaching the low 70s.  It’s been pretty breezy but it’s been a warm breeze.  Unfortunately, we may have to pay for it with more stormy weather tomorrow.  We are already being warned of a repeat of last Friday.  Hopefully, it won’t cause as much damage. Our 6:30 PM temperature is 71°F, the humidity is 35%, and winds are from the SW at 8-16 mph.  The pressure is…

A Little Cooler But Sunny . . . .

A Little Cooler But Sunny . . . .

We have a little reprieve from severe weather for a few days, but then another round is expected on Tuesday.  It isn’t clear how much will affect Michigan but I hope that those affected by the tornadoes on Friday, don’t get hit again.  Southwest Michigan is busy cleaning up the mess from the damage in ‘Three Rivers and Union City.  This next system looks like it will stay to the states south of us, but that’s what they thought about…

First Tornadoes Of The Year . . . .

First Tornadoes Of The Year . . . .

Although we knew that there was the possibility of severe weather, the tornadoes that struck the southwest corner of our state yesterday came as a shock.  There were four deaths and numerous injuries.  Looking at videos of the damage, I’m guessing that it was probably an EF3 or 4.  As for us, we had a lot of rain and plenty of lightning, although there were no close lightning strikes.  Three Rivers, MI got the worst of it.  We should get…
