Thunderstorms And A Tornado – Mid Michigan
Although we had no severe weather yesterday, we did have a few thunderstorms that passed over giving us 0.45″ of rainfall. Other areas weren’t as lucky. Perry, a small town about 15 miles to our southwest, was hit by a tornado about 8:30 last evening. What was ironic is that the tornado hit their tornado siren, so there was so warning. It is still too early to estimate the damage and it’s rating, but there are no reported injuries or fatalities which is always a good thing. At one point, I could hear thunder in every direction but we didn’t get any close strikes here. Some areas reported 3 inch per hour rainfall, and some of the freeways in Flint were flooded. We are still expecting thunderstorms today, and we just had a quick downpour a few minutes ago. I just hope that there is no more severe storms.
