Most of the lower peninsula of Michigan is under some type of weather watch or warning and the next 48 hrs are expected to be a real challenge for all of us.  The northern portions are expected to have heavy snow and we’re expecting an ice storm.  The latest is calling for up to 3/4 of an inch of ice and I am fully expecting to lose power if that happens.  The generator is gassed up and ready.  In addition to the freezing mess, winds are expected to be strong, and I’m hoping that this isn’t a repeat of Christmas of 2013.  Presently, we have very mild temperatures and light winds, so we made a last trip to the store before the storm hits.  Everyone else seemed to have the same idea.

Our 1:30 PM temperature is 47°F (8°C), the humidity is 95% and winds are from the south at 2  mph.  The pressure if 30.15 in and steady, and the dew point is 47%.  Viability is 8 miles and skies are overcast.  The high yesterday was 48°F (9°C) and the overnight low was 45°F (7°C).  Averages for this date are 30°F / 19°F.  Sunrise was t 8:06 AM and sunset will be at 5:21 PM.

Freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet and snow in the evening, then freezing rain, possibly mixed with snow after midnight. Ice accumulation of less than one quarter of an inch. Near steady temperature in the upper 20s. Northeast winds 10 to 20 mph shifting to the southwest 10 to 15 mph after midnight. Gusts up to 40 mph. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent.
