Three Inches Of New Snow For Mid Michigan
Yesterday, we were under a winter weather advisory which was to start at 3 PM. Mother Nature couldn’t wait, and light to moderate snow began to fall at around 10 AM. It didn’t stop until well after dark and there were many accidents on roads which became icy very quickly. My kids, who were here for the holiday weekend, had to go home to Detroit yesterday, and they said that cars were wiping out on the expressways which were a glare of ice. They both got off and took secondary roads which were much better. At least they got home safely. Today is actually quite nice. We have three inches of heavy, wet snow but temperatures are mild and much of it is already melting.
Our 1 PM temperature is 35°F (2°C), the humidity is 82%, and skies are cloudy with a few breaks of sun. Winds are from the WNW at 8-12 mph, and the dew point is 30°F (-1°C). The pressure is 29.70 in (1005.8 mb) and steady. Visibility is 10 miles. Yesterday’s high was 29°F (-2°C) and the overnight low was 27°F (-3°C). Average temps for this date are 39°F / 28°F. Sunrise was at 7:44 AM and sunset will be at 5:04 PM.
