I have lived in Michigan all of my life and became very interested in the weather after the 1953 Flint tornado. This was one of the few EF5 tornadoes in our state's history (since records have been kept). Although we are not strangers to severe storms in Michigan, EF5 tornadoes are very rare. I live in an area where we rarely get a good thunderstorm, in fact, we haven't had one all summer. When I lived down by Detroit, they were frequent during the spring and summer months. I love experiencing the four seasons here in Michigan and I wouldn't live anywhere else.
Dry But A Bit Cooler . . . .

Dry But A Bit Cooler . . . .

We have cloudy skies this morning and today will be a little cooler than yesterday.  There is a very slight chance for some sprinkles but probably not.  I don’t think that we’ll see much sun today either, so it’s just going to be kind of be a blah day.  So far, it hasn’t felt much like summer but the local weather gurus are promising that it’s coming.  In fact, next week is looking like our high temps will make it…

A Mix Of Sun And Clouds . . .

A Mix Of Sun And Clouds . . .

Our day began with clear skies and plenty of sun.  It has now become more cloudy but the sun manages to make an appearance every so often.  It’s not a bad day.  Temperatures are comfortable and winds are light, so quite pleasant to be outdoors.  We do have a chance for rain, but just a little showing on radar northwest of us.  Our highs are supposed to remain in the 70s this week with no really hot weather expected anytime…

Cloudy And Cool . . . .

Cloudy And Cool . . . .

We were under a severe thunderstorm watch most of yesterday afternoon, and there were various cells of storms which formed, but I don’t think any reached severe criteria.  All we had here was a brief shower that left 0.11″ in my gauge.  A few areas reported small hail, but that was about it.  We do have a slight chance for rain today, and it is quite windy once again. Our 2PM temperature is 71F, the humidity is 53%, and skies…

A Nice Start To Our Monday . . . .

A Nice Start To Our Monday . . . .

Our Monday started out with sun and warm temperatures.  We are expected to have an increase in cloud cover and we could see some thunderstorms this afternoon.  There is a very slight chance that some could be severe.  Mid Michigan saw quite a few showers and thunderstorms yesterday afternoon, but all we got here was some sprinkles.  I think our rain chances are better today. Our 12:30 PM temperature is 78°F, the humidity is 45%, and skies are mostly clear. …

Clouds And A Little Rain . . . .

Clouds And A Little Rain . . . .

Although we haven’t seen any rain yet, there is some approaching from the northeast on radar.  The forecast is giving us just a slight chance for rain later so I’m not expecting much.  This morning is cloudy and there isn’t much wind.  The air is quite dry, so much of the rain will probably dissipate. Our 10:45 AM temperature is 67°F, the humidity is 64% and winds are calm.  The pressure is 29.70 in and falling.  The dew point is…

Lovely Saturday Weather . . .

Lovely Saturday Weather . . .

This has been a lovely morning and it seems to be continuing into the afternoon.  Temperatures are comfortable and winds are light.  Skies are clear except for a few wispy clouds.  There is no rain in our forecast until tomorrow night.  Life is good. Our 12:30 PM temperature is 75°F (24°C), the humidity is 39%, and winds are from the ENE at 4-6 mph.  The pressure is 29.91 in (1012.9 mb) and steady.  The UV Index is very high at…

A Pleasant Friday For Us. . . . .

A Pleasant Friday For Us. . . . .

After a rainfall of over an inch on Thursday, we had clearing by afternoon, although there was a lot of smoke in the air.  The air quality alert is still in effect until midnight tonight.  Our skies are clear but hazy.  Temperatures will be in the upper 70s today, so it should be a nice day. Our 1 PM temperature is 75°F, the humidity is 45%, and winds are from the NE at 2-7 mph.  The pressure is 29.94 in…

Air Quality Alert . . . .

Air Quality Alert . . . .

Once again, we are dealing with smoke sent to us compliments of Canada.  An air quality alert has been issued for those with breathing problems, and even those who don’t shouldn’t be outdoors too much.  Yesterday brought us some rain and we got a little over an inch here.  Now the sky has cleared and temperatures are making their way up to the mid 70s.  Yesterday was too warm for my liking but the rest of the week should be…

Rain On The Way . . . .

Rain On The Way . . . .

This morning is very windy with rain approaching from the southwest.  We could see some heavy storms later, but I think it is just light showers almost upon us now.  Yesterday was very warm with highs reaching the upper  80s.  There was a moderate breeze which kept things comfortable.  Even lows overnight remained in the mid 70s. Our 12 noon temperature is 77°F, the humidity is 69% and skies are cloudy.  Winds are from the SW at 4-16 mph, and…

Another Hazy Day . . . .

Another Hazy Day . . . .

We have almost clear skies with just a few scattered clouds, but one wouldn’t know it.  Our sky is grey with smoke from the Canadian wildfires, even though the wind isn’t coming directly from that direction.  Our temperature is very warm, and it would be very uncomfortable if not for the wind.  Storms are moving in from the west  and could reach us by tomorrow morning.  Until then, it will remain hot and dry. Our 4:45 PM temperature is 86°F,…
