Cool But Sunny . . . .

Cool But Sunny . . . .

Today is my daughter’s birthday so we spent yesterday in the Detroit area celebrating.  The weather was cloudy but temps were mild and it was dry.  Today is cooler but we have more sun, so not a bad day at all. Our 12:45 PM temperature is 43°F (6°C), the humidity is 42%, and winds are from the N at 5-9 mph.  The pressure is 30.00 in  (1015.9 mb) and falling.  The dew point is 19°F (-7°C) and visibility is 10…

Tranquil Weather Ahead . . . .

Tranquil Weather Ahead . . . .

The south continues to have devastating storms while we are enjoying calm and a little sun this morning.  Temperatures have cooled off considerably but we knew that was coming.  I just found out that some friends in Byron lost a large barn in Sunday’s storms.  There were 200 cattle inside, and thanks to family and friends, all cattle were rescued.  Yesterday brought strong winds but otherwise was decent.  I think we have enough rain for awhile. Our 1 PM temperature…

We Survived The Storms . . . .

We Survived The Storms . . . .

Between the ice storm to our north, and the severe weather to our south,  I feel very fortunate this morning.  although we had rain all day yesterday, and some rumbles of thunder, nothing major happened here.  We received  just under 2 inches of rain.  There were 9 confirmed tornadoes on Sunday although most of them were quite weak.  It was nothing compared to what the states to our south had to endure.  Looking at the national weather map, it appears…

A Terrible Weather Day . . . .

A Terrible Weather Day . . . .

We began our day with thunder and  moderate to heavy rain.  This is going to be an eye to the sky day as severe weather is knocking on our door once again.  People up north are in a desperate situation as 1.5″ of ice covers everything, and many tree branches are snapping.  Our governor has finally sent in the national guard to help rescue those trapped in their homes.  95% of northern Michigan is still without power.  Many pictures are…

More Psychotic Weather . . . .

More Psychotic Weather . . . .

It looks like tomorrow could be a repeat of Sunday.  Once again, there is a slight risk for severe weather and many have not recovered yet from Sunday.  So far, there are 4 confirmed tornadoes and some are still being investigated.  As for us, we lost a tree but it was half dead anyway.  The strange thing is that temps are expected to rise tomorrow just enough to fuel these storms.  Then temps will fall into the 30s again with…

Severe Storms/Tornadoes/Ice Storms . . . . .

Severe Storms/Tornadoes/Ice Storms . . . . .

What else can I say?  Michigan is a mess right now.  Severe ice storms have all but paralyzed northern Michigan, and severe thunderstorms have put many in the dark here in southern Michigan.  We, as well as many others, were under tornado warnings and many are without power this morning.  The system that caused havoc with us is now over the eastern states.  They can have it!  We lost a tree but still have power.  I’m thankful for that. Our…

Wet And Stormy . . . . .

Wet And Stormy . . . . .

The morning began with light rain which has ended for now.  We are expecting some pretty heavy storms later this afternoon and some could be severe.  Right now, it is quite pleasant.  I was just outdoors without a coat and was quite comfortable.  Even the winds are light but the air is heavy with moisture.  We received  0.33″ of rain overnight, which is badly needed. Our 12:30 PM temperature is 63°F, the humidity is 92%, and skies are overcast.  Winds…

Dreary But Warm . .. .

Dreary But Warm . .. .

Our morning is very mild but dreary.  We received  0.13″ of rain over the past 24 hours and highs could reach near 70°F today.  We are warned that tomorrow could be a rough one with plenty of severe weather to go around.  Our northern parts of the state have a major ice storm happening and they are all told to stay off the roads.   Northern Michigan can handle any amount of snow that they get, but ice is another matter. …

Rain On The Way . . . .

Rain On The Way . . . .

Today could bring some heavy weather to the mid sections of our country.  Northern Michigan is expecting a significant ice storm which will cause havoc for travelers today and tomorrow.  I wouldn’t be surprised if the Mackinaw bridge is closed for a while.  As for us, we could see thunderstorms this afternoon with a very slight chance that some could be severe.  This threat will continue through the weekend.  Right now, we have cloudy skies and a few peeks of…

Where Did Our Sun Go . . . .

Where Did Our Sun Go . . . .

Our morning was sunny and bright.  Now the clouds have moved in and there is a fine mist in the air.  This wasn’t supposed to happen.  It was supposed to be a nice day.  Conditions are getting very dry here, and we could use a good rain, but not what we’re getting.  At least temps have warmed up back to average. Our 3:15 PM temperature is 54°F, the humidity is 44% and skies are overcast.  Winds are from the west…
