After a cloudy morning, the sun finally came out and skies are perfectly clear now. Unfortunately, with it came very brisk winds. Our total snow over the past 3 days was around 5 inches for my area, much better than what the western side of the state got. This is our 4th day with snow and below average temperatures. We have about 2 inches of snow cover with some ice. We would have a lot more except there was quite a bit of thawing in spite of the cold temperatures. Today should be the end of it with some warming over the next several days. We didn’t get the massive snow amounts that other areas did, but today will be miserable none the less. We had lake effect snow showers for the past two days, but the ground is warm enough that much of it melted. We do have about 2 inches of snow cover and ice where it melted and refroze. We had intermittent snow showers all day Thursday, which increased in intensity in the evening. Most of the early snow melted on contact, but heavier showers later in the day started accumulating. Radar is showing more on the way. I’m seeing where parts of New York state got three feet, so I won’t complain. We woke to a white world this morning with about an inch of snow on the ground. Liquid measure was about 0.13″. It’s a wet snow so it is sticking to all the tree branches. Highs today will probably not make it out of the mid 30s, but there isn’t much wind so it’s actually quite pleasant outdoors. We were surprised this morning by a sudden snow squall. It left about half an inch on the ground and was wet enough to stick to the trees. It has stopped for now but I think that there is more on the way looking at the radar. It snowed hard enough that visibility was reduced to less than a mile. Local forecasts are saying that we could get 3 inches by late tomorrow. I really don’t dislike snow this time…
Today really looks and feels like November. It is cold and temperatures are remaining in the upper 30s. The high was supposed to reach 40°F today but I don’t think it’s going to make it. There isn’t much to say about today except that it’s cold and gloomy. The forecast called for partly sunny but we haven’t seen much sun yet.
