Mid Michigan Weather

Today is not a nice one for having to be out and about.  We have very strong winds out of the west which makes it feel much colder than it is.  We had a mix of rain, snow, and sleet yesterday which turned into all rain by late afternoon.  There was only 0.12″ in my rain gauge this morning so we didn’t get nearly as much precip as most of the state did.  The UP was under a winter storm…

Today is quite pleasant although the wind is brisk and is chilly when it hits you.  At least we have a little sun shining through a thin veil of clouds.  There are predictions of a major snow event for the northern portions of our state tomorrow, but we are expected to just get mostly rain.  Some areas of our UP could get up to a foot of new snow.  Folks up there are heavy into winter sports, so I’m sure…

Another winter weather advisory was posted yesterday afternoon and we received an additional 3 inches of new snow.  Some of what we received Saturday melted but we are still left with 5 inches on the ground.  About an hour ago, there was some ground fog forming but it didn’t last long.  It was gone as quickly as it developed.  Temperatures are supposed to warm up over the next few days, so I expect that this snow won’t last too long….

Yesterday, we were under a winter weather advisory which was to start at 3 PM.  Mother Nature couldn’t wait, and light to moderate snow began to fall at around 10 AM.  It didn’t stop until well after dark and there were many accidents on roads which became icy very quickly.  My kids, who were here for the holiday weekend, had to go home to Detroit yesterday, and they said that cars were wiping out on the expressways which were a…

Our day began with plenty of sun and milder temps than what we have had recently.  Now we have had a few sprinkles and skies have become overcast.  Our car temperature showed a high of 53°F when we were out and about, but now temperatures have begun to fall.  Scattered light showers are showing on radar although nothing near us at this time.  Rain is expected to move in later today, and continue throughout the night.  Thanksgiving Day isn’t expected…

It’s actually pretty nice outdoors today in spite of the cold temperatures.  Riding in the car, the sun felt very warm and we sure didn’t need the heater.  The sky is perfectly clear and winds are very light.  If one dresses warm, it’s a very nice day to enjoy the outdoors.
