Mid Michigan Weather

Today began with clouds, fog, and rain.  There is a low pressure center sitting over Lake Michigan producing this rainy weather, although we are still hanging on to much-above normal temperatures.  It seems like a day in early September rather than October.  We have received 0.28″ of rain since 8:30 yesterday morning and it looks like this will be the order of the day.  I’m hearing that temperatures could reach 80F by Sunday.  I wouldn’t complain if this lasted all…

Today is gloomy and damp with some light fog.  Scattered showers are appearing on radar but we haven’t had any rain yet.  If we do get some, I don’t think it will be much.  We really don’t need any but Mother Nature doesn’t seem to care.  Our highs remain much above normal and will continue over the next week or so.  I think that we’ll be paying for this very soon. This has been a dark and gloomy, wet day since the beginning.  The rain has been intermittent but with the humidity and high dew point, the air feels very wet even when the rain isn’t falling.  There were scattered showers and thunderstorms on Sunday, and a tornado warning was even issued during the late afternoon for the Clarkston – Holly area.  No tornadoes were spotted however.  Forecasts called for an end to the rain this afternoon but I’m not seeing…

Rain developed late last night and has continued through our morning.  There was 0.08″ in my gauge at 8:30 and we have received another 0.01″ since then.  The sky looks quite threatening but isn’t producing much precipitation.  Intermittent sprinkles seems to be all it can do.  We really don’t need anymore rain and the sun has peeked out a few times.  This is expected to continue into tomorrow with highs in the low 70s most of the week.  There is…

Today is a little cooler than yesterday but still very pleasant.  Some areas reported a little rain overnight and my weather station is showing one lightning strike 17 miles away.  That was a surprises since I wasn’t aware of any rain in the state.  Our high yesterday made it into the low 80s and I’m hoping that it continues until the rest of my tomatoes ripen.  I still have quite a few green ones on the vine. The rain has diminished somewhat but still coming down.  Over the past two days, we have received 2.86 inches and the flood watch continues until 11PM tonight.  We also have some fog developing.  The south eastern areas of lower Michigan have received most with some places getting close to 6 inches.  Highs will only reach the lower 50s today, but should be back to normal by the weekend. The rain began yesterday afternoon and intermittent heavy showers continued through the afternoon.  More steady rain developed overnight and there was 0.90″ in my gauge at 8AM.  It has been raining steadily since then.  I’m seeing on the CoCoRahs map that the Detroit area has received well over three inches in many places.  A flood watch is in effect until tomorrow morning.  Temperatures have cooled down considerably and highs today are expected to remain in the mid 50s.
