Sunny And Mild For Our Thurday – Mid Michigan

Sunny And Mild For Our Thurday – Mid Michigan

We came back home yesterday and could see many flooded fields as we  traveled through the Mt. Pleasant-Clare area.  US 10, which passes Midland, was completely closed due to flooding.  They are saying that this is a 500 year event and so many people are affected.  These types of weather events are so sad as Mother Nature can be so cruel.  The owners of our campground said that there was 4 inches of snow on the ground last week up…

Finally The Rain Has Ended – Northern Michigan

Finally The Rain Has Ended – Northern Michigan

After 2 days of rain, yesterday finally broke out in a little sun by late afternoon.  Today is expected to be very nice but we have to head for home.  Highs here are expected to be in the low 70s.  That’s warmer than what is expected at home.  I’m seeing pictures of disastrous flooding in mid portions of the state with the failure of several dams.  Some areas received as much as 8 inches of rain.  We got about 3…

Finally, An End To The Rain- Northern Michigan

Finally, An End To The Rain- Northern Michigan

We continue to have a few sprinkles this morning but it shouldn’t last too long.  Today is expected to be fairly nice after two days of continuous rain.  There are flood warnings at home and they received over three inches of rain over the past 48 hours.  We didn’t get nearly that much here in northern Michigan, just enough to make it miserable.  The owners of our campground showed me pictures from a week ago.  They had 4 inches of…

Rain, Rain, and more Rain – Northern Michigan

Rain, Rain, and more Rain – Northern Michigan

This isn’t the first time that the weather forecast has changed from what it was supposed to be.  Originally, it was supposed to start raining late Saturday night, all day Sunday, and be done by noon today.   Not going to happen.  It looks like today will be another wash out with rain possibly extending even into early tomorrow.  We will probably leave tomorrow since the weather is so ditsy.  At least we had a nice day to get our trailer…

A Wet And Chilly Sunday In Northern Michigan

A Wet And Chilly Sunday In Northern Michigan

Yesterday was very nice here in Indian River, but the next two days will be very wet and cold.  We went down to the inlaw’s cabins on Lake Huron in Cheboygan yesterday afternoon, and couldn’t believe how much of their yard that was lost.  Their flag pole is gone as are several trees which were near the shoreline.   They will be coming up from Florida on June 1 and I sent Chris a message warning her of what to expect. …

A Beautiful Day In Northern Michigan

A Beautiful Day In Northern Michigan

Today is  sunny with light breezes, and our 2:30 PM temperature is 62°F.  It’s fine day for setting up our camp and getting outdoor stuff done.  We drove up yesterday in light rain until we reached near Gaylord, then skies looked threatening but no more rain.  It was dry when we reached the campground and we set up without a hitch.  Now that we have a seasonal site, we won’t have to go through this every time we come up. …

A Wet Thursday For Mid Michigan

A Wet Thursday For Mid Michigan

We have showers and thunderstorms in the forecast for today, and the radar is showing them to be quite plentiful for Michigan.  Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous although a bit on the chilly side.  Winds were light so the sun made up for it.  The extended forecast is showing that the cold weather is past, and the upcoming week will have normal to even above normal temperatures.  It’s about time! Our 9 AM temperature is 45°F (7°C), the humidity is 93%,…

Finally, A Sunny Day – Mid Michigan

Finally, A Sunny Day – Mid Michigan

It really looks like spring is finally here.  The extended forecast is showing highs up to 80° next week.  It’s about time!  We’re heading up to our campground on Friday and the weather is looking pretty good for us.  I’m ready for it.  It’s never quite as warm up there but that’s okay.  I’ll take the 60s over what we’ve been having. Our 9:45 AM temperature is 49°F (9°C), the humidity is 52%, and skies are clear.  Winds are from…

Still Waiting For Warm Weather In Mid Michigan

Still Waiting For Warm Weather In Mid Michigan

Here it is, almost the middle of May and we are still seeing snow or other frozen precipitation.  Unbelievable!  I can’t remember ever having May be this cold and I’ve been around for many years.  Fortunately, the extended forecast is calling for the last half of the month to be closer to normal.  I certainly hope so!  We had a very small amount of rain yesterday which left 0.02″ in my gauge.  It wasn’t nearly as much as what other…

A Welcome Warm-up For Mid Michigan

A Welcome Warm-up For Mid Michigan

It feels so balmy out there this morning, a welcome change from the past two days.  Hopefully it will stay this way.  What’s even better is that we should see temps near 70° by next weekend.  We’ll be going up to our campground to set up the trailer for the season and the weather is looking good right now.  I hope it doesn’t change. Our 9:15 temperature is 52°F (11°C), the humidity is 46%, and winds are from the SW…
