A Change Coming To Mid Michigan

A Change Coming To Mid Michigan

Yesterday was a very rare day for January here in Michigan.  For the entire day, there wasn’t one cloud in the skiy.  We didn’t see any until almost dark.  Unfortunately, the wind was unbearably strong with gusts reaching 30 mph at times.   Temperatures weren’t that warm either, so being outdoors, even with the sun, wasn’t that pleasant.  Temperatures today are a bit warmer but we have clouds once again. We have a few more days with above normal temps, then…

A Beautiful, Sunny Day In Mid Michigan

A Beautiful, Sunny Day In Mid Michigan

To look outdoors, it is a very pretty day.  But when you step out and the wind hits you, it isn’t so nice.  Never the less, just seeing the sun improves one’s mood.  Yesterday brought a mix of rain and snow.  We were down in Detroit most of the afternoon and they received about an inch of snow, but when we came home, the ground was bare.  There was 0.02in of water in my gauge this morning. Our 1:45 PM…

Seasonal Temperatures, Trace Of Snow For Mid Michigan

Seasonal Temperatures, Trace Of Snow For Mid Michigan

We received a slight amount of snow late yesterday, after a day of mist which coated everything in a light cover of ice early in the day.  We could see a mix of snow and rain later but no great amounts are expected here.  Temperatures hovered right around the freezing mark all day Saturday, and it should be a little warmer today.  We’ve been very lucky so far this year weather-wise.  I know that it won’t last. Our 9:45 AM…

A Little Freezing Mist To Start Our Saturday – Mid Michigan

A Little Freezing Mist To Start Our Saturday – Mid Michigan

We had a light covering of ice this morning on my deck when I let the dog out, but there was nothing in my rain gauge.  I could feel a light mist on my face but nothing showing on the radar.  It was just cold enough to freeze.  Our highs for today should remain in the mid 30s, so it won’t be a real warm day but still above average.  The extended forecast is calling for above average temperatures right…

Mild Weather Hangs On In Mid Michigan

Mild Weather Hangs On In Mid Michigan

After a mostly sunny day yesterday, clouds have moved in and I don’t expect to see much of the sun today.  Regardless, temperatures remain above normal and the year is getting off to a mild start.  I know that this will not last, but we’re happy that we aren’t buried in snow at this time.  There are no significant weather systems expected for us in the near future although there is one which will just miss us to the south.  …

Sunny And Warmer Than Expected – Mid Michigan

Sunny And Warmer Than Expected – Mid Michigan

Our Thursday has been better than expected.  We were supposed to have mostly clouds skies and highs only in mid 40s.  We have seen a lot of sun and temperatures seem to be rising faster than what was expected.  The wind is a bit chilly but for an early January day, we certainly can’t complain. Our 2:30 PM temperature is 46°F (8°C), the humidity is 62%, and winds are from the SW at 10 mph, gusting to 20 mph.  The…

A Partly Cloudy New Years Morning In Mid Michigan

A Partly Cloudy New Years Morning In Mid Michigan

After a cold, snowy, blustery New Years Eve day,  this morning is partly sunny and the strong winds are gone.  We had intermittent snow showers all day yesterday but no great accumulations.  Today should be more pleasant although very chilly.  I always look forward to the Tournament Of Roses parade on New Years Day, but other than that, we have nothing else going on. Our 9:45 AM temperature is 26°F (-3°C), the humidity is 82% and skies are partly cloudy. …

Winter Has Returned To Mid Michigan

Winter Has Returned To Mid Michigan

After all the rain and wind of yesterday,  we woke to a world of white this morning.  The forecast called for less than an inch of snow, but we received about 3 inches.  We got 1.6 inches total in rain yesterday, and then another 0.34 of an inch in melted snow overnight, so I think that we have enough precipitation for awhile.  It is still quite windy this morning making it feel much colder than it is, and it will…

Very Windy And Wet In Mid Michigan

Very Windy And Wet In Mid Michigan

After a very wet Sunday, today will be dryer but with very strong winds.  A wind advisory is in effect until 4 PM and we could see gusts as high as 45 mph.  Yesterday’s story of the day was the fog.  Visibility was under half a mile a good part of the day with intermittent showers.  In all, we received over an inch and a half of rain, and some areas received over 2 inches.  I’m seeing some breaks in…
