There was a lot of damage from Thursday night’s storms. There were six confirmed tornadoes just in the Detroit area. Then there were two in Livingston County and another near Grand Rapids. We were warned of the possibility of severe weather yesterday, and the storms that happened were “overachievers” according to one meteorologist. Heavy thunderstorms moved over the eastern half of the lower peninsula yesterday morning and afternoon, dropping as much as 5 inches of rain in some areas near Detroit. It was a cool day until late in the afternoon when it cleared up a bit. That’s when it really got hot. We had three storms yesterday. The first, and longest, happened just after noon. Then another developed just to our west, and moved over us about 5 pm.
