Severe Cold and Wind Chill Advisory for Mid Michigan

We haven’t had weather this cold in several years.  In fact, the past two have been quite mild.  We had sun most of yesterday but it certainly didn’t feel any warmer.  Highs barely made it out of the single digits and today won’t be much better.  What’s worse is that there is no relief in sight from this frigid air, at least not in the upcoming week.  We have about three inches of snow cover at this time and needless to say, it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Our 9 AM EST temperature is -3.6°F (-19°C), the humidity is 80%, and skies are clear.  Winds are calm and the pressure is 30.57 in (1034.9 mb) and rising.  Visibility is 10 miles.  Sunrise was at 8:08 AM and sunset will be at 5:09 PM.   Yesterday’s high was 10°F (-12°C), and the overnight low was -9°F (-23°C).  Averages are 31°F / 18°C.  The record high for Dec. 26 is 59°F (15°C) set in 1932, and the record low is -14°F (-26°C) set in 1914.
