Much Warmer Temps are on The Way for Mid Michigan

The big story yesterday was the meteor on Tuesday evening.  It caused a very large “boom” which registered as 2 on the Richter scale.  Many claimed that it shook their houses.  I saw the flash through my window but heard no noise.  Several of my friends were outdoors when it happened and were truly amazed by what they saw.   The noise apparently was caused when it exploded and particles from it have supposedly landed in areas about 20-25 miles to our south.  They are saying that anyone who can find any of the remnants could get rich.  I figure that there would be as much chance of that as hitting the lottery, so I think I’ll pass.  There were many videos yesterday on the media, taken from dash cams and security cameras of those lucky enough to have seen it.  That meteor has ushered in some much welcomed warmer temperatures for us.  Unfortunately, strong winds are accompanying it, but at least it should clear the roads.  We should see the 40s once again this weekend.

Currently (9 AM EST), our temp is 21°F (-6°C), the humidity is 76%, and winds are from the SSW at 10 mph.  The pressure is 30.02 in (1016.3 mb) and steady.  Visibility is 10 miles and skies are cloudy.  The dew point is 14°F (-10°C) and the wind chill is 9°F (-12°C).  Sunrise was at 8:03 AM and sunset will be at 5:31 PM.  Yesterday’s high was 27°F (-3°C) and the overnight low was 18°F (-8°C).  Averages for this date are 30°F / 15°F.  The record high is 59°F (15°C) set in 1952, and the record low is -17°F (-27°C) set in 1982.
