It Looks Like A Christmas Card This Morning – Mid Michigan

It Looks Like A Christmas Card This Morning – Mid Michigan

We received about 2.5 inches of snow overnight and everything is covered in heavy, wet snow.  I have to admit, it’s beautiful.  We still have flurries happening although we’re aren’t expecting much more in terms of accumulations.  Our temperatures will continue to remain much below average for the next week, and I’m hoping for a substantial warm-up sometime soon. Our 9 AM temp is 30°F (-1°C), the humidity is 90%, and skies are cloudy with light snow.  The pressure is…

Waiting For A Warm-Up In Mid Michigan

Waiting For A Warm-Up In Mid Michigan

Unfortunately, a warm-up isn’t expected to happen anytime soon.  We will continue with highs only in the 30s over the upcoming week.  Rifle deer season opened today here in Michigan and the deer hunters should be happy with the temperatures.  Yesterday was quite nice with clear skies all day and almost no wind.  We were finally able to get the rest of the outdoor furniture put away and I’m glad that it’s done.  As for today, there is more snow…

15 Degrees Below Normal For Mid Michigan

15 Degrees Below Normal For Mid Michigan

It really feels like December right now and I’m upset that we totally lost our autumn weather this year.  We went from September to November, and Mother Nature totally skipped October.  Usually the weather balances out eventually, and I’m hoping that it will happen in December.  It would be nice to have snow for Christmas, then warm the remainder of the month.  I know!  I’m not being realistic. Our 9:30 AM temperature is 26°F (-3°C), the humidity is 69% and…

A Milder Winter Is Still Predicted For Mid Michigan

A Milder Winter Is Still Predicted For Mid Michigan

I just read yesterday that El Nina is strengthening, and that a milder winter will probably happen for us here in the north.  If so, I wish it would happen soon.  The temperatures that we have been having are much too cold for this time of year.  We received an inch of snow overnight, so this morning seem bright.  The sun has been peaking out occasionally, and that’s a welcome sight.  I hope we see much more of it today….

Below-Normal Temperatures Continue in Mid Michigan

Below-Normal Temperatures Continue in Mid Michigan

With our normal temperature for this date in the upper 40s, we aren’t seeing anything close to that, and no real warmups are in the forecast anytime soon.  At least we should see a little more sun over this upcoming week and that will help.  I keep thinking that this can’t last but it is and has been.  Where is this mild weather that NOAA predicted for us?  Maybe it will come in December when we want the snow for…

We have another cloudy day but it seems brighter than what it has been.  Highs today will remain in the 30s and we could see a little sun later on.   My husband is in the hospital with vertigo and other problems, so I haven’t been paying much attention to the weather.  He should be able to come home today, so I’m hoping for dry roads.  There isn’t any rain in the forecast but that doesn’t always mean much this time…

It Certainly Looks And Feels Like Winter in Mid Michigan

It Certainly Looks And Feels Like Winter in Mid Michigan

We received about 1.5 inches of snow total yesterday but by mid day, it was gone.  Another quarter inch fell overnight and that is sticking so far.  On the positive side, it brightens up the landscape and it doesn’t seem so dark and dreary.  We are in the midst of a deep freeze, with highs only expected in the 30s, which is much below where it should be for this date.  Looking ahead at the 10 day forecast, I don’t…

It’s A White Friday In Mid Michigan

It’s A White Friday In Mid Michigan

When I got up this morning, we had about half and inch of snow cover, now it’s about 1 to 1.5 inches.  It is heavy and wet so I’m happy that it isn’t more than that, however it is still coming down.    It is really pretty with snow sticking to everything, and with hardly any wind, it’s actually quite a pleasant morning. Our 9:30 AM temperature is 34°F (2°C), the humidity is 96%, and skies are cloudy with light snow. …

Accumulating Snow A Possibility This Weekend – Mid Michigan

Accumulating Snow A Possibility This Weekend – Mid Michigan

We could see a couple inches of snowfall this weekend.  Some areas of the U.P.  already have 5-6 inches on the ground, and although we aren’t expecting that much here, our world could be very white Saturday and Sunday.  What’s worse is that highs are not expected to rise out of the 30s anytime soon.  This is much too early for this type of weather.  NOAA gave us a long term forecast of a milder winter, but it sure isn’t…

Dark, Dreary, Wet On This Election Day – Mid Michigan

Dark, Dreary, Wet On This Election Day – Mid Michigan

Everyone going out to vote today will be battling rain and wind.  It will not be a nice day at all.  What’s even worse is that temps will continue to fall all week with highs by week’s end only in the 30s.  I’m still waiting for Indian Summer, and am losing hope that it’s going to happen this year.  Autumn is usually my favorite season and I feel like we got totally finagled this year.  It all began the last…
