A Welcome Sunny Day – Mid Michigan

While the Northeast is experiencing blizzard conditions, we have a very bright but cold Tuesday here in Michigan.  It’s never a bad thing to see the sun, even when temps are much too cold to go out and enjoy it.  We do have another weather system coming in for our Thursday but I haven’t really heard anything about it as far as how it will affect us.  We continue to have about 3 inches of snow cover and it doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon.  I’m hearing that our highs next week will only make it into the teens, so our snow is here to stay.  Today is groundhog day and it seems that Punxsutawney Phil DID see his shadow this morning, so we can expect another 6 weeks of winter according to Phil.  I wonder if anyone has any data on the accuracy of his reports.

Our 11:15 AM temp is 26F (-3C), the humidity is 72%, and skies are mostly clear.  Winds are from the NW at 3-12 mph and our wind chill is 19F (-7C).  The pressure is 29.81 in (1009.5 mb) and steady.  Visibility is 10 miles.  Yesterday’s high was 30F (-1C) and the overnight low was 13F (-11C).  Averages for this date are 27F / 14F.  Sunrise was at 7:50 AM and sunset will be at 5:50 PM.
