Another line of thunderstorms passed over us late last night leaving us with an additional 0.96″ of rain. Our total rain amount for the past two days is 2.53″. It moved quite slowly from the NW to the SE bringing with it quite a light show and severe weather to some areas. We lucked out with just the rain and plenty of lightning. Thunderstorms began around 1:30 this morning and continued all night. We had a brief reprieve around 8 AM, but now the rain has started up again. There was 1.55″ in my gauge at 8 AM, but it has been raining steady since then. My weather station is showing over 2 inches in the past 48 hours, so I think that we have enough rain for awhile. After a very wet Wednesday morning, the skies cleared by mid afternoon and the heat returned. We received a total of 0.80″ of rain which was badly needed and the chance for more rain continues through the weekend. It is expected to cool off over the next several days and hopefully, this is the end to this very hot weather. They said that we would get rain but I didn’t expect what we’re getting. We’ve been getting moderate to heavy rain since about 4 AM and there is no let-up at this time. My weather station is showing 0.69″ since 3:48 AM. Some areas have already gotten over an inch and I think we will also by the time it ends. Radar is showing that it won’t happen very soon.
